Google it. It was Martin Luther.

Muslims too hold the same views re a good, strong lie.
Ha. You do realise that Martin Luther broke away from the Catholic Church to found his own Church? Quoting Luther as an example to Catholics would be like me quoting Muhammad to give an accurate reflection of Judaism.

Psh, common sense is overrated. 😛

Quite a master of lies. A xian theologian said: What is wrong in a good, strong lie for the church?..

RCSCWC:

In all fairness to my Lutheran brothers and sisters in Christ, I must say **Martin Luther could not have written such a thing - to use lies for the sake of truth and a Christian Church? ** You call Martin Luther a master of lies? How much about Martin Luther do you know anyway? How much of his writings have you read? Do you know why he was ex-communicated from the Catholic Church? And what a large following the Lutheran Church has?

This is a Catholic forum in which you represent the Hindus. So please offer verifiable sources for your allegations. “Google it” is not exactly a reference.

**Martin Luther wrote no such thing. So please provide your source of information.
**

Please read up on the Second Vatican Council of the Roman Catholic Church. Gather as much information as you can about the interfaith efforts being made by the Catholic Church and other Christian denominations. Really religious people are interested in bringing peace and harmony among people. Creeds that sow division and hatred, and use violence, is what needs to be held in contempt.

Militant fascist Hinduism has as little to do with Hinduism as the KKK has to do with Christianity.
In the US, KKK is monitored by the police and brought to book when they indulge in violence in the name of their cult, no matter what they call it.

Sorry.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John1:1

New International Version
International Bible Society
Long Before John 1:1 was written the same words have appeared in Vedas. “Prajapathi Vai Agre Aseet” In the beginning was Prajapati, The Brahman, The God “Tasya Vag dvitiya Aseet” with whom was the word: “Vag Vai Oarama Brahman” and the word was verily the Supreme Brahman - The God.

Also
3. Aitareya Upanishad
Part One
3.1.1. Chapter I - The Creation of Viraj
  1. In the beginning all this verily was Atman only, one and without a second. There was nothing else that winked. He bethought Himself: “Let Me now create the worlds.”
Advice: Don’t question the profound depth of Hinduism about which you know not.

PS: A lot of NT passages are either verbatim or redacted from Bhagwad Gita.

Yet this is a famous quote by him.

What harm would it do, if a man told a good strong lie for the sake of the good and for the christian church… a lie out of necessity, a useful lie, a helpful lie, such lies would not be against God, he would accept them.
– Martin Luther, protestant reformist

And sin has little to do with the Devil. Oh yeah. There are *some *sins that the devil didn’t even put his nose into. Just like there are some hindus that have never fired a bullet.

What section of the Vedas is this from?

My daughter has given her son a necklace to wear as a charm for protection; a pundit (Hindu priest) told her that his deceased grandmother was trying to take him with her. This after he suffered from some form of seizure. The pundit performed some ritual (I was not present, I did not approve) and gave him the charm which is made of some lumps wrapped in cloth and tied around his neck by a string. I am concerned about the possibility of this bringing demonic influence into his life (he’s 4 yrs old) and I am seeking opinion and advice from any of you who have knowledge and experience in these matters. (By the way we are all Catholics)
Isn’t this the regular way to get rid of a demon as a Catholic?

Tobit 6:8

"As regards the fish’s heart and liver, if you burn them so that the smoke surrounds a man or a woman who is afflicted by a demon or evil spirit, the affliction will leave him completely, and no demons will ever return to him again.

If you think wearing charms of any kind is demonic why do people wear crucifixes? Also, if polytheistic religions are all demonic, how do you explain the fact that they were around long before Christianity? There was no devil or demons until the Cristians came along. Just curious
The Jewish Religion goes back the beginning of time, to the two first people. The true religion of the One God has been around since time began, Hinduism is not older.

I’ve never heard of “traditional” Hindu priests saying things like this. But Hinduism IS a very diverse group of religions.

I hardly would think that Hinduism is “demonic” or has a demonic influence. The Catholic Church recognizes that there are certain truths found in various religions, but it has the so-called Full Truth.

The real question that Catholics should ask and answer is:are Hindus worshipping the Divine? If not, what are they worshipping? Seeing as how Hinduism has some of the oldest beliefs in the world, as well as the oldest religious text, what are you to make of that?
They Claim the oldest religion text. The Hindu Religion makes internal claims about how old they are.

So Does the religion of the Trinity, the one true God, Judaism was around on DAY 1, before any other religion.

also, the belief in evil beings does transcend Christianity. However, various non-Christian gods and goddesses were demonized and thus became part of the demonic hierarchy of Christianity. Various religions do believe in divine possession, where the deity enters or overshadows the body to reveal a message, etc. This has many terms, such as invocation, “taking a seat”, etc. However, these are not demons, at least from a non-Christian point of view. The Hindu gods and goddesses are not demons.
Deuteronomy 32:17
They sacrificed to demons, which are not God— gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your fathers did not fear.

Exodus 20:4

"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

Exodus 32:4
He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

Exodus 34:17
"Do not make cast idols.

Leviticus 17:7
They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols to whom they prostitute themselves. This is to be a lasting ordinance for them and for the generations to come.’

Leviticus 19:4
" 'Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 26:30

I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars and pile your dead bodies on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I will abhor you.

The word that has been ? accidently missed is the “The” in the above incident ; it was The fish that was prepared specifically for such and such an occsion .
Code:
As to our present times , we rely on our Lord's words - how the least in The Kingdom is greater than those who are not in the Kingdom - as having been either born before it or out of it !
Yeshua , I trust in Thee !
Have mercy on us !

Nope, thats perfectly in order. It’s a free world. (Well parts of it anyway)

Thanks by the way for the detailed and informative answer.😃

I suppose we could move on to some sort of refutation of my comments on demons by presenting some evidence of their existance rather than simple avoidance and bonhom.

I gather that the fear of “them” affects you in the same way it affected the goatherders of 15000 BC?
Fear Demons?

HA! You obviously do not know much about Christianity!

2 Corinthians 10:4 (King James Version)
4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.

Luke 10:19 (New International Version)
19I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

We Defeat Demons in Jesus name! We have POWER over demons! Praise GOD!

Krishna Yajurveda, Kathaka Samhita, 12.5, 27.1)
Do you have a link to the text? Or a page number of a text in which the verse is found? All I can find is:
Long, long before that the Vedic Seers had declared: “In the beginning was Prajapati [God the Creator], with Him was the Word, and the Word was truly the Supreme Brahman.” (Prajapati vai idam agra asit. Tasya vak dvitiya asit. Vag vai paramam Brahman. Krishna Yajurveda, Kathaka Samhita, 12.5, 27.1; Krishna Yajurveda, Kathakapisthala Samhita, 42.1; Jaiminiya Brahmana II, Samaveda, 2244)
And even that quote doesn’t give the actual context of the verse.

This verse, with some variations, is found in dozens of books. Mind you there are at least 40,000 old Hindu texts known, and not more 500 are online.

Modern Hindutva is rewriting Hinduism. I doubt if any serious scholar of religions would find any credibility in it because it is all beginning to read like the worst kind communist style propaganda which is a complete insult to anyone’s intellect and logic.

If there are **forty thousand ** Hindu texts known, why not list at least a hundred reliable ones here, since you represent the Hindus on a American Roman Catholic Forum?

And by the way, you have not yet answered my question about your Hindu background:

**Which part of India do you come from?

Which Hindu god do you worship?

Which Hindu philosophy do you follow?

Which Hindu caste do you belong to, according to Hinduism as is practiced in India? **

All of the above has a direct bearing on how you understand Hinduism.

Hinduism hasn’t any demonic influence. Its a very good religion with nice philosophy.Though hindus worship many gods but they believe that these gods are the aspects of one supreme God.I like hindu God Krishna very much, because he is a very kind person.Lord of Hinduism shri krishna is really very loving God.I respect him for his kindness to people.Though as a christian I believe that holy trinity is only God,but it is a different matter.
There is no legitimate defense of it, or of any form of worshiping a false god or gods. Hinduism is not acceptable! Did Christ say that there is One Way or multiple ways to the Father? Krishna is a false god.

Please choose whether you will be Catholic or not.

ahem I really can’t contribute to this magnificent forum that much, but I can help with this. Gandhi was a monotheist. He didn’t pray to “gods”, he prayed to God. While he was an adherent of Hinduism, a false faith, he did have many things in common with Christianity and Catholicism.
A person can have a toaster as their one god. What does it mean to have one god, if it is a false god?
