I recently learned that many of the famous Protestant ministers you see on morning television; i.e. Joyce Meyer, Creflo Dollar, Charles Stanley, to name a few - are heretics. Do the research yourself on-line, you’ll see. You’ll be shocked at what you find they believe in.

You can’t lump all protestants in with what you see some ministers on TV saying, or doing.

Would it be fair for us to judge all Catholics by the actions their clergy who have engaged in bad behavior?

CindyGia, i would just like to state, that i am engaged to a protestant, and although she may never become Catholic, she follows some of the Catholic teachings better than most Catholics ive known my whole life. so please do not tell me that a protestant cannot be more Catholic than one of us. They may not follow all of the beleifs of the RCC, but honestly, i expect to meet alot more Protestants in heaven than i do Catholics from north america. And i am very dissapointed in your arrogant selfish criticizing opinion. John 8:7 “Whichever one of you has commited no sin may throw the frist stone at her.” I would like to point out that through every sin, through every doubt, through every malintention, we are all “schismatics and heretics” so if you would kindly apologize to every one of our Protestant brothers and sisters whom you have offended (especially those who are on the path home), you will be forgiven. May God Bless all those who are blinded by their selfish views, and open their eyes to God’s entire family.

Protestants can drive out demons, Fr. Amorth discusses it in his book, and if that isn’t enough, we have the word of Christ Himself:

John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.”
Jesus replied, "Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me.

Just rewatched the Exorcist today, anybody notice that Father Damien Karras breaks the Host during the consecration? They should have done a bit more research for that part of the script.

I remember a while back, watching the 700 Club, in which Pat robertson was discussing the movie The Exorcist, with a guest who if I can remember was a minister–the denomination I can’t remember. But anyway, this minister stated that if a person is saved, all he has to say to a demon is “begone Statan in the name of Jesus”, and the demon will run like hell.
It was the opinion of this minister that the reason the two priests in the movie had such a hard time with the exorcism, is that they didn’t know Jesus, and weren’t saved.
One wonders if the bigotry against Catholicism will ever end.

Well, if Pat Robertson and his friends were saved and knew Jesus, they would know that the name “Jesus” alone is not enough to drive away a demon - Jesus was a very common name back in the day that Jesus was born. To drive away evil you must say "…in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior or even just Jesus Christ to get the demon’s attention.

So ol’ Pat and his buddies must not know Jesus and are not saved. Too bad for them.

Hello…I am by far no expert…nor do I claim to be an expert on demonic possession or exorcisms, etc…however…one thing I do know that is any person who is alive on this earth…anyone who is breathing, is in fact filled with The Holy Spirit…they may repress the guidance and gifts of The Holy Spirit…but while they are alive and breathing…God’s Holy Spirit is within them.

can someone help me explain to my brother and evangelical the answer to this question that he posed to me regarding the movie about emily rose:

I never really believed that a true Christian could be demon possessed. If they can’t stand God’s name or crucifixes and holy water how can they enter someone who has the Holy Spirit living in them? Because of their wickedness, how could they stand to occupy God’s temple with His perfect and infinite holiness?

i want to make sure i give him correct information because i think he is seriously checking into things about the catholic church ~ he is at present an evangelical. i have been praying that he comes back to the catholic church.

According to the late Dr. Walter Martin, no Christian or believer in Christ can ever be possessed by demons, since the Christian’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. He said that God is not about to make His apartment become a duplex. I used to believe this too until I reverted back to my Catholic faith. I believe now that a Christian can be possessed by demons if they are in mortal sin. If they are in the state of grace, then no. In Dr. Martin’s talk on the movie “The Exorcist”, the scene where the priest Father Karras gets possessed could never happen. Then I watched the movie “The Rite” and the priest played by Anthony Hopkins gets possessed and that movie was advised by renowned Catholic Exorcist Father Gary Thomas. Could a renowned Catholic Exorcist be wrong and Dr. Walter Martin be right? Since Protestantism is a heresy, I believe Father Thomas more than I would Dr. Walter Martin. Though I respect both men, a Catholic expert in demonology have more credentials then a Protestant expert in the subject. I’ve listened to many talks and still do enjoy listening to talks from Dr. Martin about the occult, which he has much knowledge of, but as a revert to Catholicism, I don’t believe in everything he says about the subject matter, especially when it comes to demon possession. I leave that to the Catholic Exorcists.
