Yep.

Unfortunately, sometimes I find that satanists are more firm in their conviction that the Eucharist is the true Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ than some Catholics.

So too, do Demons firmly believe in the True Presence. In 2010, I was acting as the immediate spiritual support for one of my friends who had a confirmed case of demonic obsession (physical and spiritual attacks). At one point, I went to Adoration to pray for my friend and the demon manifested himself in a corner of the Church that was furthest from the tabernacle while still within my line of sight. It did everything it could during my Adoration to distract me, but could did not approach due to my close vicinity to the tabernacle.

Is there, within reason. any other explanation for your experience?

Not that I have come across. We were able to confirm that it was the same demon as it had also appeared to and spiritually attack other people who had helped my friend through his trials. It wasn’t the only time I came in contact with that demon and in all the other cases, both myself and with others, the demon usually got as close as possible to those who were praying for my friend to frighten us into abandoning our prayers. This was the only time it did not approach. Separate priests have pointed out that the reason was for this was the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. I have also encountered in my life others who had similar experiences in which a demon appeared in a corner of the Church furthest away from the tabernacle while still in their line of sight in an attempt to dissuade them from their prayers. One even resorted to tearing down Christmas decorations (I personally witnessed this).

Demons Believe and Tremble before the Real Presence

“A couple of years ago I wrote of an unusual experience I had at Mass wherein a person who was troubled by a demon had those demons manifest themselves at the consecration, causing the person to run out of the Church. More on that in a moment…”
Wasn’t Satan there at the last supper? Yes. He entered Judas and what did Judas do after Satan entered him? He left.

I always saw Judas taking the Eucharist, as the first example of someone taking the Eucharist in mortal sin.

While Satan was there at the Last Supper, the dipping of the morsel right before Judas left actually came before the consecration. The actions around the betrayal point to it actually being before the Seder proper in which Christ instituted the Eucharist. The Apostles were talking freely among themselves. If it was the Seder liturgy, there would be set responses and silence would be observed as Christ would lead the liturgy in the place of the head of the family. The betrayal and flight of Judas came while they were gathered and socializing, but had not yet began. Christ, as acting head of the household would provide his guests with flatbread and dipping sauces (a custom still found in the Holy Land but known under the general term as ‘salad’). They would wait to begin the liturgy so that the meal within the liturgy would be timed to coincide with the completion of the cooking so that there would be neither a lag in the Seder as they waited nor would the food be cold.

I see that. Thanks

Years ago, as my faith was growing, I was asleep during the day (working the graveyard shift) while family was at work or school. I woke up with the bed shaking. “Must be the wife” was my thought, as she would sometimes shake the bed to awaken me.

Nope. It was mid-day and she was at work and the kids at school. No earthquake or tremor. I was alone but not alone. A little freaked out, I grabbed a sheet of spiritual warfare prayers and prayed fervently. The activity stopped.

And, I find that such activity increases when one is deepening their faith. Envy? Jealousy? Both? Probably.

Why is your first inclination to attribute this to something supernatural when far more plausible explanations are hallucination, dreaming, earth tremor, blasting in the area etc. etc.?

I was in Rome at the time and had a priest friend who was doing graduate studies at the North American Pontifical College. He did interviews with those involved and forewarded his notes to one of his contacts at the Vatican who confirmed it from the testimonies and assigned one of the English speaking priests of the Diocese of Rome to take over the handling of the issue. One of the first things done was to remove him from our dorms, which had an occult shop on the street below us. After that, I wasn’t part of the process and there was a seal on discussing the ongoings of the activity as the process of addressing the issue was formally began.

While I generally do not agree with KevinK, I too would be interested in why people who are not experts in deliverance ministry and getting confirmations from Rome (in other words, not CRM_brother) would think “demon” rather than something else. I know to some extent this is cultural, and there are countries where people see demons behind every bush, but on the other hand this forum has had a plethora of demon/curse etc threads lately and in some cases it looks to me like people are taking normal life phenomena like job loss or sleep issues and jumping to the conclusion it’s a demon.

How do we know it’s a demon and not just normal life stuff? When things go wrong in my life, I generally don’t think “demon” because I feel that is being overly superstitious and not having confidence in God to protect you.

Very well said.

Despite having had experience in this ministry, unless there are some specific warning signs, I too hesitate to declare something demonic. There are some general warning signs I look for before I seriously address the possibility of demonic activity.
  1. Unexplainable physical phenomenon
  2. Acute onset of the feeling of absolute hopelessness and/or terror which vacates upon the recitation of prayers outside of a diagnosis of acute anxiety disorders or acute depression.
  3. Uncharacteristic recurring thoughts or behaviors which vacate upon the recitation of prayers outside of behavioral or psychiatric disorders or illnesses.
Now, I am not a trained exorcist. I must make that clear. This is just from my experience and is my process to assess the situation and, if need be, forward it to the proper authorities.

While I am flattered, I am by no means an expert. Just someone with a little bit of experience and one who knows to forward the situation on to someone more knowledgeable when I find that I’m out of my depth.

If one believes in the supernatural, and one has considered (one can tell scientifically by checking seismographs, oh, wait, no seismic activity that day in that area; no blasting, no history of hallucinations and no medications/conditions which induce same, person is awake so no dreaming) all the other things and found no explanation, why NOT consider the supernatural?

After all, if something is SUPERnatural one would not be able to find a NATURAL explanation for it, correct?
