I’ve been reading some material from Padre Pio on a SSPX site, and it’s depressing me. First of all, reading much on Padre Pio makes me feel utterly hopeless, completely hopeless. I already suffer from a mental illness, so perhaps that makes it worse? I don’t know. What I do know is that I feel like there is no hope for salvation in me, none, and that I will never be able to stop sins, and will never be with God. Padre Pio causes me to feel that the sins which I have confessed, especially today, are not forgiven, that I am in mortal sin as I speak, and that God will not forgive me, for it seems . . . impossible and mercy seems a thousand miles away and sin and dispair are creeping up easier now.

Also, the SSPX are causing dissension in my spirit, especially how they claim the great Padre Pio was on their side, strictly against V2 and the Novus Ordo. So yeah, I feel distressed, it’s been a stressful weekend altogether, and my head is spinnig with questions.

Over all, SSPX and Padre Pio have caused me to feel like there is no hope for souls, and that agnosticism is creeping within the shadows of me, so, I’m frightened and scared.😦

I don’t know what you read about SSPX and Padre Pio , but please keep in mind that our Lord is resurrected and tomorrow is Easter!

Do not allow the evil one to steal your faith and joy. Fear, depression, hopelessness are never coming from God, resist those dark feelings. God wants to give you peace, love and joy. Remember Jesus died for you on the Cross and resurrected for your salvation. We are not saved by our own efforts and strength, but by grace and the blood of Christ. There is always hope and victory in Christ. Choose to believe.

Praying for you, God bless, have a happy Easter!

Thank you. It’s been a really really difficult Easter weekend, the hardest I’ve ever experienced. even at confession today the priest spoke so quickly, and kind of quietly, and felt like he was pushing me to be done that I couldn’t even think straight, calmly or properly, and felt WOSE when i came out. :’(

My dear friend
God and your Blessed Mother love you no matter what. They love you for all eternity even if your the worst sinner in the world. Even if your lost they love you. Stop worrying about whether they love you,. They do and always will. As far as sin goes God is not so concerned with this as you and others think. Just do your best and they will help you and all will be well. The only thing you need to worry about and try to do is return the love God and your Blessed Mother give you. Forget about your faults and failings and just love them and do your best and all will be well. We are all weak , fallen creatures and they know this. But they love us anyway and will do anything to help us through this life and to get to heaven. God even laid down His life on a cross for you. Stop worrying. All will be well.🙂

Thank you hugs You also have mentioned my (our) Mother. Wow, that’s . . . interesting because nobody has ever said this to me before and only recently have I been growing more attached to her. 🙂

**Do Not Think about Your Sin Anymore, I Have Done Away with It with the Salutary Bath of My Blood
**
You must think relatively about past times. You need, on the other hand, to look at what I place before your eyes showing My divine wisdom. Direct constantly the gaze of the soul towards Me and do not let it be preoccupied about things that I have already cleared away with a salutary bath of My Blood.

The troublesome thoughts return because one does not believed in My Will, of which the very act of desiring - that is to say the act in which My Will is transformed into action - accomplishes the miracle of definitely erasing all your past sins which have pain and accomplishes the purpose of reforming.

Therefore, whoever looks back with thoughts of anxiety, offends Me and will have no peace as long as they may not believe that what most interests Me in the creature is to destroy sin and its consequences. And, for that reason, no sooner does a soul accept the action of My grace and puts itself at My disposition, then I take the care of removing from it even the smallest stain. And not only this, but I also manage to dissipate your bad habits so that they never return… May everybody be dominated by new and holy habits!

Sorry things are hard right now. :hug1:.

Keep your head up. Christ prayed for and forgave those who sinned much more blatantly than you ever could, He loves you more than you’ll ever now.

Well, Agnosticism really isn’t anything to be afraid of, but if these things you are reading are depressing you, you should stop. Do whatever makes you feel happy again. Or, instead, you can go out and about: spend time with family and friends, write in a journal, take a nice walk, just be active and get mental and physical exercise!

Oh! And get some rest. Maybe your not getting enough sleep. :o

Your welcome. It’s great your drawn to your Blessed Mother. You will find the most tender and loving heart in her where you can rest. God bless you:)

I used to be Agnostic-atheist, actually, i never called myself that, but looking back after Faith had found me, I realized that’s what I was. My “fear” is losing my God, which feels like losing a deep love, (I’ve falling away before, and they were the darkest dreadful days of my life. not because of any particular sins I was doing, but because He wasn’t in my life. I cannot explain the feeling, I don’t think anyone can unless they’ve experienced him themselves. God utterly—tottaly—completely blows me away 1000 fold in ways I can’t even fathom. I love Him and am His bride, as we all are (or those who come to Him) and to be without my life would unfold in misery and lonliness. Even if this was all in my head, I’d still prefer to live this way cause He makes me happy. But even now, explaining this, I feel selfish, to much on “me me me” when others need attention and care also.

Sleep yes, I haven’t slept 8 hours in months now. I’m always up reading, writing, or endlessly thinking. 😦 Last night I went to bed at 12:15 A.M. and woke up at 6 A.M. :o

I do have a hobby though, I’m currently writing a fantasy novel called “Guardian of the Seventh Realm,” and it’s almost done; have been working on it since November of 2000 😃

Thank you ever so much poster BIG hugs

thank everybody also!!!

It’s simply AMAZING how the evil one, one who’s name isn’t worthy of mention, tempts us (or perhaps it may of been his servants). Last night, going to bed, I was anxious because of my troubled spirit, and . . . almost fell victim to a particular sin, but by the end of the temptation, I stopped myself and fell asleep. When I awaoke I felt happy that I had not done it, and thanked God for His grace.

I CAN’T WAIT FOR EASTER MASS!!! jumps up and down jumps up and down 🙂

Why would you think that Padre Pio makes you feel hopeless? To allow him to feel the love that Christ had for us, God gave him the stigmata for 50 years. He experienced, through that suffering, the depths of love that God has for us. By his example of devotion to God, he gave hope to people that felt hopeless and one of his common sayings was “Don’t worry” (as he said to my Granddad once). I don’t understand how you could possibly feel hopeless by reading about his life (unless your source has twisted the truth to confuse you). Most of his time was spent hearing confessions (thus showering God’s mercy on souls).

Pope John Paul II actually once went to Padre Pio for confession before he became pope. Also, through a letter he sent to Padre Pio in 1962, he asked Padre Pio for prayers for a dying mother (Wanda Poltawska - she was later miraculously cured) and Padre Pio remarked “This is impossible to refuse”. During the second vatican council, many of the bishops went to see Padre Pio for advice as well. Pope John Paul II also has attended and prayed at the tomb of Padre Pio.

Given all this, it is evident that Padre Pio was NOT against vatican II and he gave hope to people that felt hopeless. I suggest you read a book like “Padre Pio: the true story” or similar to understand the true story about Padre Pio rather that rely on websites that like twisting the truth to suit their own agenda.

My dear friend

Happy Easter to you. Perhaps your Blessed Mother crushed the head of the serpent for you. Try to pray the rosary each day. It’ll help in all ways.🙂

If you find that reading something, no matter how saintly the author, disturbs you, or upsets you, or you find it unhelpful, simple:

DON’T READ IT!

There’s a certain spiritual classic that has been a key to heaven for many people, but simply gets me upset. (Which may say more about me than the book involved.)

There are lots of other things.

As St. Paul said, “Whatsoever things are beautiful, lovely, of good report–thing on THESE things.”

Well, there’s your problem. Sleep. 🙂

I think it’s great you’re a writer. 😃 I’m a writer myself with a novel called “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.” Unfortunately, it’s a novel started when I was Catholic, so it’s under heavy edit. 😊

Best of luck in finishing it! Ending a novel is as exciting as starting it. 👍

QUOTE]

Blessed Padre Pio died in 1968.
The Novus Ordo was implemented in 1969.
Does this help?

Ooohhhhhh you’re a writer too!!! Awesome! Lol, well I was a Protestant when I started mine 🙂

Why do you have to change it? So what that you are not a Catholic anymore, (though I still consider you my sister), one could still admire the Faith and think of it as a good “christian mythology” and yet not be religious. Unless you hate the ethics and morals of the Faith all together.

Would you ever like to read mine? While it does have parellels to my Faith, a lot actually, it on the other hand is not religious. Actually, it’s also a trilogy.

I sympathize with you because I also have a mental illness which can at times cause severe physical and mental depression. The reason I just joined this website was to ask for some advice, and now I find I’m giving it instead.

Stop having anything to do with SSPX. No Catholic needs to have anything to do with that group anyway until they resolve their disordered status in relation to the True Church. Why even tempt yourself to get off track when you have the real thing (be it Novus Ordo or Extraordinary form, but WITHIN the Church).

Second, don’t read Padre Pio. There are thousands of saints to choose from and a variety of good, contemporary Catholic writers as well. When depressed is not a good time to get into “negative” things as those of us with mental illness will tend to distort and exaggerate it even worse.

Try watching EWTN, it’s more uplifting. You might like some of Fulton Sheen’s works, such as “Life is Worth Living”. If you need a mental break, and sounds like you do, try a healthy novel, perhaps G.K. Chesterton’s Father Brown mysteries or something by Muriel Spark.

Remember, the irony of depression is it pulls us towards what is dark. People without this illness find it strange that we don’t automatically seek something fun or joyous. But many things feel “flat” and at least the weird stuff (like SSPX) matches our weird mood. Don’t fall for that. Don’t let your illness push you to a bad spiritual direction. If something is depressing you, for Heaven’s sake, don’t read it! Don’t fall for that compulsion that you have to explore or that this is the “Dark Night of the Soul”. It is not. Depression is not mysticism, it is a medical condition we need to work around.

I wish I could suggest some other saints for you to read but can’t think of any at the moment. You might also try throughout the day, when you think of it, say the quick short prayer, “Jesus Mercy, Mary Help.”

I have to edit out the “preachy” tone. A few weeks ago, I read The Shack-- a very religious fictional book (regardless, the story was very good. 🙂 I definitely recommend it. :yup:)–so I read that book and noticed how awfully preachy it sounded and I wanted to rid my story of that. Either way, it’s still going to have the same Catholic characters, the story is going to change… 😉

If you’d like me to take a look at your story, I’ll check it out. 🙂 The first four parts of my novel is on my blog which you’ll find on my profile. 😃 (But, it’s the unedited version, so it may not make that much sense. :o )
