I left the church, married athiest, came back, prayed rosary, went to mass, husband left, now receiving communion again.

Also, say your wife agrees to have the marriage blessed in a few years. then you can receive eucharist. also you could receive confession right away, and put that in your confession. I went to confession weekly and adoration as a reparation for my falling away. I said rosary daily. God did the rest. Now I take communion. My marriage will be annuled, so I can remarry in the church, or chose a vocation later in life.

Hope this helps. Going back to the Catholic church, no matter where you are in your life, is a blessing never a curse!! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, or think of you as less of a catholic for where you are right now. You belong there, and go back.

I have the same issue with my husband, however, I was already a catholic. We were married in a civil ceremony – did not realize at the time what that meant.

After talking with my priest, basically all the sacraments are available except Communion. I have been trying to get my husband to go with me for 2 years to the classes to bring our marriage into the church. We start them and then he blows up and turns everything into an argument.

My plan right now is prayer and holy water. I sprinkle it on hats, clothes, bed sheets — basically anything my husband might touch during the day. I also started working on Healing and Deliverance activities – the book I am using is Unbound by Neal Lozano. Then after that I plan on moving to Healing the Family Tree activities. We have adoration at our church so I have been thinking of doing that as a substitute for communion.

The only thing you can do is pray, pray, pray and wait, wait, wait. The Holy Spirit has to eventually make the change in your wife’s heart. I know it is very hard to wait.

God Bless, Angela

Well I wrote this over a year ago and 10 months ago my wife suggested we get our marriage recognized in the church. I took a really hard line she is a very strong baptist and it took me knowing the bible inside and out to have an answer for every reason why.

Our children are not baptized and that is what I am currently working towards

I suggest taking a hard line like saying you can’t have marital relations with him until you are married under the authority of the church.

Also you can’t have confession either according to church teaching
