CHRISTIAN LIFE IS A CROSS
Do not grumble then, whenever you bear a Cross; and do not think that spiritual life ‎must be easy, and its way covered with flowers. Otherwise, on what account will you ‎be rewarded in eternity? And also, what is the meaning of the words of the Lord ‎concerning the narrow gate (Matt. 7:13)?

CHRISTIAN LIFE IS A CROSS

In fact, Christian life is practically a journey to Golgotha; and Christianity ‎without a Cross is really not Christianity.‎ Those who have received their good things on earth, will have no share in the ‎Kingdom, as the story of the rich man and Lazarus explains to us (Luke 16:25). We say ‎that, as regards individuals, just as we say it as regards groups and churches also. For ‎Christianity is a participation in the sufferings of Christ, as the apostle Saint Paul said: ‎‎"that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His ‎sufferings, being conformed to His death" (Philippians 3:10). He said also about this ‎participation in the sufferings: “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I ‎who live, but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20).‎

Great post for those who are suffering, including the OP. Prayers continue for the entire family.

p.s. Having just been diagnosed with lymphatic cancer, this post really strikes home! I am learning to embrace my new cross, even if it leads to my own Golgotha.

To Saint Gabriel

O loving messenger of the Incarnation, descend upon all those for whom I wish peace and happiness. Spread your wings over the cradles of the new-born babes, O thou who didst announce the coming of the Infant Jesus.

Give to the young a lily petal from the virginal scepter in your hand. Cause the Ave Maria to re-echo in all hearts that they may find grace and joy through Mary.

Finally, recall the sublime words spoken on the day of the Annunciation – “Nothing is impossible with God,” and repeat them in hours of trial – to this family – that their confidence in Our Lord may be reanimated, when all human help fails.

Prayers still coming for you and your family. (And for PoGuy.)

Perhaps God will allow all this to happen so as to clear the way for you to seek Him. Some only seek Him in times of trouble and when things settle down, they forget about Him again.

I can’t imagine the things going on in your mind right now, even questioning the existence of God and the futility of prayers etc. It would be a test of faith for anyone in your postiion, so be kind to yourself, your spouse and your children. You will get through it! And you’ll be stronger for it. Love will get you through.

Remember at all times, what Jesus said on the Cross, “My God, my God, why have You abandoned me?” His Cross became a Triumph. Stick close to Him and yours will too! Hard to imagine that when you’re in the midst of the troubles, but it is true.
