When more TLM’s start up in Detroit, will the thread title have to change to the plural 😛 😃

All parishes in the Archdiocese of Detroit that plan on having a celebration of the Extraordinary Form of the Holy Mass may post in here as of right now. Please list your parish’s name and the time of the Mass or Masses that are to be celebrated.

SS Cyril and Methodius is planning on celebrating the Extraordinary Form as a Saturday Vigil Mass ( 6:30pm)

Beginning in Jan, 2008 ( after the parish renovations are complete)

Here is a small list that I have heard:

St. Josaphat: Sunday 9:30am, Monday 7:00pm
Assumption (Windsor): Sunday 2:00pm
St. Joseph: 4th Sunday 10:30am
Assumption Grotto: Sunday 9:30am

Clarification: St. Josaphat’s weekly Monday 7:00 PM Mass starts on September 10.

St. Joseph will also be holding a Christmas Midnight Tridentine Mass with orchestra.

A question for those in the Detroit area: Were you able to see the Tridentine Mass on EWTN at 6:00pm on Friday? I saw it listed to be shown at that time, but instead a Novus Ordo Mass was shown. Was the Tridentine Mass preempted in Detroit?

I’ll bet you were watching the local Catholic station, which preempts for local programming on CTND. Big difference.

I taped it from local Comcast station 291, which is straight EWTN without any CTND and it ran straight through.

You can watch it online at EWTN. Scroll to the bottom:

I’m wanting to attend the Latin Mass again. The one on EWTN was so beautiful and reverent. I haven’t been for several years and want to buy a new Missal - does anyone have any suggestions where I can get one from?
I have heard that there are various types and some are better than others.

The weekly Windsor/Detroit Tridentine Community News discussed the pros and cons of the various available hand missals in this issue.

I saw a used copy of the St. Andrew Missal at a used book store I frequent in the Detroit Area. It has been a couple weeks though since I have been here (It was the first full day the Lodge was open)

Thanks - any particular differences in the Baronius and Angelus Missals - from Angelus’ website it looks like they are SSPX! Are Baronius associated with anyone?

Thanks.

Just to get back on topic, since the Motu Proprio has taken effect, all Extraordinary Form Masses that have been planned or are already in progress in the Detroit Archdiocese and Windsor may be discussed.

This thread is for the whole archdiocese of Detroit.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of those celebrating in Metro Detroit, and then another of those preparing to celebrate?

What is happening at Sts Cyril & Methodius? I figured Fr. Ben would jump on it. Has he? I’m sure the new building will be well disposed for the celebration of the Extraordinary Form.

For sure as of today:

St. Josaphat: Sunday 9:30am, Monday 7:00pm
Assumption (Windsor): Sunday 2:00pm
St. Joseph (Detroit): 4th Sunday 10:30am, Christmas Eve Midnight Mass
Assumption Grotto: Sunday 9:30am, Daily 7:30am

Almost certain to have one in the future:

Ss. Cyril & Methodius, Saturday evening
Transfiguration (Detroit), weekday

There are 13 others in various stages of discussion, but it is not appropriate to mention those in a public forum. Realistically 4-7 of those will actually come to fruition. One parish is planning a one-time-only Solemn High Mass for April, 2008.

After seeing so many priests and bishops say Mass at St. Josaphat, isn’t it about time for our Cardinal to make an appearance? Is there any chance of that happening?

This Sunday, October 21 at 2:00 PM, a Solemn High Mass will be held at Windsor’s Assumption Church to mark the 16th Anniversary of the Windsor Tridentine Mass.

The celebrant will be Fr. Wolfgang Seitz, ORC; Deacon will be Deacon Richard Bloomfield; and Subdeacon will be Fr. Peter Hrytsyk. A special music program is planned, and a reception will follow the Mass.

Assumption is located just east of the Ambassador Bridge, on University Ave. at Huron Church Rd. Assumption is one of metro Detroit’s grandest Gothic churches and is worth the trip just to see the architecture and stained glass.
