Can you provide a citation to prove he actually said that?
Certainly.

32 Q. What should a Christian do who has been given a Bible by a Protestant or by an agent of the Protestants?
A. A Christian to whom a Bible has been offered by a Protestant or an agent of the Protestants should reject it with disgust, because it is forbidden by the Church. If it was accepted by inadvertence, it must be burnt as soon as possible or handed in to the Parish Priest.

We are also encouraged to take the JW literature, so that it doesn’t fall into unsuspecting hands. Ever since I found that out, I gladly accept their Watchtower and Awake publications. Then I shred them.

Can we do that to The Secret, the DaVonci Code, etc ad nauseum?

I debated a couple weeks ago with two women from the Watchtower that knocked at my front door. One got mad and threw her arms up and said enough. LOL

I’ve learned how to really get their attention. I ask them on their first visit to my house why they believe that Jesus is really St. Michael the Archangel. It really catches them off guard.

Certainly.

That’s a slightly different matter - if you personally or directly get handed a Bible by someone of another denomination then that’s almost certainly with the aim of converting you TO THEIR DENOMINATION or away from your Catholicism. I think that’s the rub and that’s why it’s not a good idea to accept.

Organisations like the Gideons, for example, who leave Bibles in hotel rooms do so with a more general aim that travellers have something wholesome and Christ-centred to occupy their leisure time with. I don’t think the Gideons or most such organisations are even affiliated with a particular denomination, so conversion certainly couldn’t be their aim.

Uh…last Sunday.
That’s really great! 🙂 You are blessed.

The last time I heard the devil mentioned at Mass was in a homily was eight years ago when the priest told a joke that mentioned the devil in a humorous way. Come to think of it, the joke was the entire homily.

It does and I think someone confronting them.

Yup, we have the NO the way it was supposed to be done and it is beautiful -no hippy innovation;) . We have fantastic priests as well and many vocations. And the devil is mentioned at just about every Mass (a couple times a month at the very least - and that’s just counting Sunday Masses)that is besides the St. Michael prayer which we all pray after the conclusion of the Mass.

That looks like Stacie’s church! I’ve heard lots of wonderful thinks about it. Yes, you are blessed to be able to go there.

Then there are those times when the homily is a joke. 😃

That doesn’t surprise me, I take holy salt and water with me whenever I go away for just such occasions. But my bro went through customs and they stoped him because had traces of cocaine on his cellphone. Now, obviously he wasn’t using, but they said he could have placed it down on a table in a hotel where someone had used.

Thank the Lord God that he wasnt’ in a country where he’d get hanged for that amount.

My friend and I were talking about burning the entire Index Librorum Prohibitorum the other day. We would throw in a few more, like those you mentioned and “The God Delusion.”

Of course, I am currently studying some of these people like Kant and John Stuart Mill in my philosophy classes. Lord knows I can’t wait to get into seminary and study Aquinas. I can’t take this secular trash anymore.

A heretic is as a heretic does. What their “aim” is, I really can’t say.

The point is, if porno demons lurk in hotel rooms, it logically follows that heresy demons lurk there as well, as they are likely attached to the faulty translation of Holy Writ that one can find in most hotel rooms nowadays.

If one takes such a translation home and consigns it to flame, we see that the evil one now has one less instrument with which to spread his lies and lead folks away from salvation, which can only be found in the Catholic Church. One might argue that it will be but a small victory, since these translations can be produced faster than maggots on a rotting corpse. Nonetheless, it’s better to light a KJV afire than to curse the darkness, I say.

Some books should be burned, especially those that endanger the faith of Catholics. As the corrupt King James bible clearly does.

The corrupt King James bible is such a clear and present danger to the faith of Catholics that it helped bring this one back to the full practice of her Catholic faith, as I told y’all back in post #55

Pardon me if I don’t burn my copy or any other for the sake of the good it’s done me.

I also stay in various hotels almost every other month. What I find unnerving is the fact that the devil does not have to wait for you to check into a hotel to tempt you. So I believe the only way to keep it at bay is to maintain personal discipline in following daily norms which includes Rosary, mental prayers, examination of consience, pious aspirations, daily Mass(if possible), use of holy water before going to sleep, saying the Angelus, etc, the works. These are simple things to do and it does not need to be visible to others.

As regards the efficacy of sacramentals, there is no substitute for sound doctrinal formation. The point being:
A good Samurai warrior and a good samurai blade is the best combination. A good samurai blade in the hands of a bad warrior does not go further, even dangerously given to false confidence. Even a bad samurai blade in the hands of a good warrior is still a formidable thing.

And many Catholics have been brought back to the full practice of the faith by chasing phony apparitions like Bayside and Medjagorge. And your point is?

How could anyone consider burning a bible which contains the
Holy Name of Jesus, the Psalms, the history of God’s work on
earth, etc. How is it such a serious heresy just because it’s
worded differently.

Example: KJV- Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not
want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures,
He leadeth me beside the still waters, He restoreth
my soul.
Code:
New American Bible - The Lord is my shepherd, I
shall not want. In verdant pastures He gives me
repose. Beside restful waters He leads me, He
            refreshes my soul.
Where is the heresy here, or in Any verse you choose?

What kind of person would go in a hotel room and burn the
Bible? Who would be smiling down on this action, God or
the devil?
