it is apparent you haven’t seen the typology that St. Luke provided to portray Our Lady as the New Ark of the Covenant, or Tabernacle (other than it being obvious that her womb was a tabernacle).

it is so obvious and in-your-face that you would have to be completely delusional to not see this connection. not even a staunch protestant can deny it.
Remember also what was in the ark of the convenat the manna, but now the true bread of life has come Jesus Christ! For man does not live by bread alone but by the “very word” of the living eternal God ! God works in mysterious ways. Praise, give Worship to God for giving us such a beautiful Mother to Love!

Who has given Blessed Virgin Mary the title “HOLY Tabernacle”?
I was simply using a title given by St. Louis de Montifort.

In fact, every Catholic who has consecrated themselves according to the method prescribed by St. Louis De Montifort have used this title, as it is part of the prescribed consecration. It is quite a popular devotion.
God for give them for they know not what they do!
How arrogant and self-righteous of you.

I know that this was pointed out to the Catholic Church by Scott Hahn who even question the Catholic Church on this! So hello! the Catholic Church with all its scholars and theo… did not see this over generations!

But I suggest you go back and read again etc etc. I also would suggest you read Hebrews again about the tabernacle! I have read word for word and did not see her being called the tabernacle. God said: “she would be called blessed among all woman”. Be careful not to add, our own human myths and Jesus did not die in vain.

Elizabeth was filled with the “HOLY SPIRIT” ( ALSO) and cried out with a loud voice, saying 'Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of they womb! And Blessed is she who has believed, because the things promised her by the Lord shall be accomplished"

THE HOLY SPIRIT SHALL COME UPON THEE AND THE POWER OF THE most high SHALL OVERSHADOW THEE, AND THEREFORE THE “HOLY ONE” TO BE BORN SHALL BE CALLED THE SON OF GOD!

I love my Blessed Mother but Worship God!
Be very careful in this. God Bless
I’m not quite sure what you are arguing here. Are you saying that Mary shouldn’t be called the Ark of the Covenant? Are you saying that she shouldn’t be referred to as the “tabernacle”? You might want to look into many approved by the Church litanies. She is called both in many of them. You can start with this google search:
google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4TSHB_enUS255US256&q=%2B%22mary%22+%2B%22tabernacle%22+%2B%22litany%22
Tabernacle might not be in the Bible but it’s certainly found in Catholic tradition. I think someone said this already but the Immaculate Conception isn’t in the Bible either. Does that mean that it’s not factual? Last time I checked we didn’t believe in Sola Scriptura.

the word of God cannot be ignored!

And Jesus answered and said to them, " Who are my mother and my brethren? And looking round on those who were sitting about him, he said, " Behold my motherand my brethren. fore whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother!"

LUKE

Now it came to pass as he ( Jesus) was saying these things, that a certain woman from the crowd lifted up her voice and said to Jesus. " Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the breasts that nursed thee." But Jesus said: " Rather, Blessed are they who hear the Word of God and keep it!"

Jesus did not even accept being called good and said: " Only God is Good!"

God Bless

God Bless

Seems you have swallowed a protestant interpretation of Luke.

Scripture Catholic

Luke 11:28 - when Jesus says, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it,” some Protestants also call this a rebuke of Mary. Again, to the contrary, Jesus is exalting Mary by emphasizing her obedience to God’s word as being more critical than her biological role of mother. This affirms Luke 1:48.

Luke 11:28 - also, the Greek word for “rather” is “menounge.” Menounge really means “Yes, but in addition,” or “Further.” Thus, Jesus is saying, yes my mother is blessed indeed, but further blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it. Jesus is encouraging others to follow Mary’s example in order to build up His kingdom.

Luke 11:27-28 - finally, Jesus is the one being complimented, not Mary. Therefore, Jesus is refocusing the attention from Him to others who obey the word of God. If He is refocusing the attention away from Him to others, His comment cannot be a rebuke of Mary His mother.

I disagree. I that were the case, it seems we’d be called Marians, not Christians. There are nothing other that opinions even though they be from saints, that all Gods graces flow from God to Christ, then from Christ to Mary, then from Mary to us…

I just feel that if that were the case there would be a whole lot more of Mary and the necessity of devotion to her (sorry, not Her) in the scriptures, instead, you find her guiding you to her Son…

I pray to her for her prayers and help, and have a devotion to her, but I really think these saints go too far.
Mary, the Mother of God, is all over Sacred Scripture…starting in Genesis and ending in Revelations. Rev. 12 - even states that Mary is the Mother of all who call themselves Christians!

Just a suggestion, read more Scripture - if you do, you will find Her there!

In Christ,

This an exhortation to anyone who would wish to be saved.

“All gifts, virtues, and graces of the Holy Ghost are administered by the hands of Mary to whomsoever she desires, when she desires, in the maner she desires, and to whatever degree she desires. Mary is the dispensatrix of all the graces God bestows. Every grace granted to man in this life has three successive steps: from God it comes to Christ, and from Christ to the Virgin, and from the Virgin it descends to us.”
ST. BERNARDINE OF SIENNA

“Every grace which is communicated has a three-fold origin: it flows from God to Christ, from Christ to the Virgin, and from the Virgin to us.”
POPE LEO XIII

“Mary has the greatest and clearest claims to our homage and praise: she is the salvation of the world; our dependence upon the august Mary is complete and universal. There is neither on earth nor in Heaven any justified soul, any one of the Elect, who does not owe Mary his justice and his glory.”
VEN. WILLIAM JOSEPH CHAMINADE

“Many have proved invincibly, from the sentiments of the Fathers -
among others: St. Augustine, St. Ephrem, St. Cyril of Jerusalem, St. Germanus of Constantinople, St. John Damascene, St. Anselm, St. Bernard, St. Bernardine, St. Thomas, and St. Bonaventure - that devotion to Our Most Blessed Virgin is necessary for salvation, and that it is an infallible mark of reprobation to have no esteem or love for the Holy Virgin while,
on the other hand, it is an infallible mark of predestination to be entirely and truly devoted to her.”
ST. LOUIS MARIE DE MONTFORT

“Mary is the whole hope of our salvation.”
ST. THOMAS AQUINAS

“If our life were not under the protection of Mary, we might tremble for our perseverance and salvation. In her hands Jesus has placed His almighty power in the order of salvation. All the graces of salvation, both the natural and the spiritual, will be given to us by Mary.”
ST. PETER JULIAN EYMARD

“The Child is not found without Mary, His Mother. If, then it is impossible to separate what God has united, it is also certain that you cannot find Jesus except with Mary and through Mary.”
POPE ST. PIUS X

“If you persevere till death in true devotion to Mary, your salvation is certain.”
ST. LOUIS MARIE DE MONTFORT

“In the multitude of the Elect she shall have praise, and among the blessed she shall be blessed.”
ECCLESIASTICUS 24:4

“Christ entrusted to His Mother’s maternal care the mission of making the Church a single family. Yes, in Mary we have the bond of communion for all of us who, through Faith and Baptism, are disciples and brothers of Jesus.”
POPE JOHN PAUL II

“However great a sinner may have been, if he shows himself devout to Mary he will never perish.”
ST. HILARY OF POITIERS

“He who is devout to the Virgin Mother will certainly never be lost.”
ST IGNATIUS OF ANTIOCH

“The servants of Mary are as certain of getting to Paradise as though they were already there. Who are they who are saved, and reign in Heaven? Surely, those for whom the Queen of Mercy intercedes. The clients of Mary will necessarily be saved.”
ST ALPHONSUS MARIA LIGUORI
Great quotes!

I would venture to guess that we are all saved by Jesus through Mary is to be understood in the same light of “There is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church”

…meaning all are saved because of the Catholic Church - no one would know Christ (including all Protestants) if it weren’t for the Catholic Church.

So, it seems reasonable to conclude that just as some Christians who are not Catholic may be saved, some Christians who don’t recognize Mary’s HUGE role (if it weren’t for her “yes” we’d not have Christ) in our salvation may still actually be saved even if they remain ignorant to the fact that we are saved by Jesus Christ through his and our Mother Mary. (Gen. 3/Rev. 12)

I was referring to those which is the title topic that reads " Devotion to our Lady “is” “necessary For Salvation”!

Meaning to me that not only through Jeus Christ, now are they saying now only through Mary?
God Bless

What’s with the Mary bashers on this thread making the false accusation that people are equating her with Christ or worshipping her?

Those are typical, ignorant, uneducated bits of anti-Catholic propaganda spread by non-Catholics. I think we have some here pretending to be Catholics.
Read you title topic! God Bless

No, you’re quite missing the point. This very short Catholic saying really says it all. To Jesus though Mary. Did you read Bellarmine’s description of Mary? Do you also understand the Communion of Saints? And finally, what did you think of the comment from the Catholic Encylopedia which says that devotion to Mary is the practical application of the doctrine of the Communion of Saints?

No, you’re quite missing the point. This very short Catholic saying really says it all. To Jesus though Mary.
Right. Exactly.

So now I see 3 options:
  1. Devotion to Mary is necessary for Salvation.
  2. Devotion to Jesus through Mary is necessary for Salvation.
  3. Devotion to Jesus is necessary for Salvation.
Option #1 is what the thread title seems to be saying. I think that’s bogus.

Option #3 is… mostly correct. But that’s a whole other can of worms (aka: how people who’ve never heard of Jesus can be saved) that should really be opened in another thread.

Option #2 seems more reasonable, but I still think it’s incorrect. It is not necessary to go consciously through Mary to Jesus. It’s certainly better in almost every possible way, and you would be foolish to throw aside the option… but it’s still not necessary, strictly speaking.

The thing is that, in the Divine plan, a devotion to Mary is quite key in salvation. Like I said, is it possible to be saved without her? Yep. That said, most are saved through her (and the saints for that matter), not alone in anyway, but in cooperation with and ultimately by Our Lord. In other words, people don’t obtain salvation by her but through her. Yes, one would certainly be foolish not to follow the examples of the Saints and foster a devotion to Mary. Devotion in the Catholic Faith is not a dirty word and not only applicable to Our Saviour.👍

The Good Thief (St. Dismus) was saved under the Old Covenant. Baptism was not obligatory until after the Resurrection.
There is no “saved under the old or new covenant” there is only SAVED. All salvation comes from Christ Jesus…his graces flowing forward and backward in time from the cross. St. Dismus was saved because of his faith in Christ. PERIOD. As to Baptism of Desire, READ THE CCC.
Submission to the Pontiff is NOT necessary for salvation, the Church DOES NOT teach this,

Actually, NO

Our salvation comes from THE Jew.😉
Devotion to our Lady is Necessary for Salvation!
Actually all salvation comes from the promise made, given and fufilled by God to Abraham, through his son Issac, because of his faithfulness, his obedience to God, don’t you think? Then because of the rejection of not accepting, believing, disobedience they were grafted off, for our sake, God’s mercy, we were grafted on -----gentles! But will God not graft them back on because of his great mercy shown toward us, how much more will they receive God’s great mercy those of the natural branch when grafted back on because of God’s great mercy shown to us! The Bible is one Book. Yes our salvation comes from The Jews. God works in mysterieous ways!

I ask are we saying that Jesus Christ scarifice was insufficent?
When Jesus said:"It is finished once and for all that was not enough?
Are we not all one Holy Family God’s Family all One Body?
I love my Dear Mother and she knows that, but are we causing divisions in God’s house? Our own pride vanity? So when we pray to one as one body are we not praying with all to God?

St. Avila said: To have family favorites or honour one over the other causes much damage to one’s soul!

Now I thought when I read this, it meant in our daily lifes and families, but now I think I know what she means. Like little St. Theresa said: Can we not love God and our dear Blessed Mother with out having such thoughts! Are we still not living in the sins of the flesh to have such thoughts? Little St. Theresa, she choose never to dwell on them! Satan loves this don’t you think when we do?

God Bless

If God did not fufill his promise, his convend to Abraham made which God bore witness to where would we all be? OH! death OH! death were art thou sting? Worship God! Love all, our Holy Family as “One”! Jesus did not die in vain. King David danced before the Ark of the Covent for I believe he knew what the Ark of the covent and its meaning meant! To see and know the Glory of God’s promise made before him coming, don’t you think?

Just asking? God Bless—Worship God and I know we are not worshipping others, but always give-- thanks, praise to God for his beloved son and our Dear Mother. For all have received so NO one can boast, rather boast of what we all have received. Those who are first will be last and those who are last will be first!.

God Bless

If we truly Love and desire to give devotion to Our Lady then do all that God has commanded us to do as I believe our Mother did also when living her daily life on earth, saying, Yes to God inobedience to God’s will and desire for her! Our dear Mother suffered also day to day living out her life on earth.

Our Mother showed us! Jesus showed and taught us how to live in obedience to God’s commandments. Feed the poor, help the widows, orphans, love they neighbours as ourselves, even our enemies. Serve one another, keep your hands busy and your conscience clear and serve righteousness and justice unto others. When we do this are we not Worshipping God? Are we not giving devotion to our Lord our Dear Mother, God’s children his family? It is simple!

Reading the Bible, God’s word is good, but our actions, yes our actions testifies to our obedience, who we Worship and who we serve, don’t you think? Like Jesus, Abraham, Moses, John the Baptize, yes our Mother Mary, St. Joseph, the Holy Prophets, the Saints all have given us great examples of this in how they lived there lives, in obedience daily, suffering and serving others, not arguing over God’s word, but living in the word.

Is Jesus not still serving us? Is Our Mother still not serving us, our the Holy saints in Heaven still not serving us? How we live out our daily life is the most powerful prayer of worship, praise to God.

This to me is what devotion is to our Holy Family. If we want a personal relationship, Worshipping God with our Holy Family then we must be doing what they are doing serving others! God said My yoke is not heavy! I am sure our Dear Mother, ST. Joseph were serving, helping, working together, giving to the poor around them like themselves, loving their neighbours and praying, praying for their enemies, caring for their families etc.

God Bless

Per the topic of this thread, St. Alphonsus Liguori, in his book Glories of Mary, makes a pretty good argument from Scripture and Tradition that it is morally necessary, but not absolutely necessary.
