DH in ICU, need prayers! Thanks!

Just wanted to let you know I am still keeping you, DH and everyone involved in my daily prayers. Keep up the good fight! 🙂
 
Update- We had a family meal of sorts. The hospital allows “guest trays” for a reasonable price, no worse the price of fast food. I think we are a tad fragmented by now, family-wise, and need that. I don’t know if it’ll work every day, and I think we need to order earlier than 5:30 PM (we waited until 7:30 PM for our meals). The food was actually decent.

DH is not eating as he should. He had two units of blood yesterday. He got dizzy in the evening. He was supposed to get dialysis in hte late evening.

The rehab place isn’t coming until today.

I took a drive to the outsource company that does hte insurance papers, to hand-carry everything to them. I faxed them three times, and three times they hated my faxes. We need “temporary numbers” to process this so he can go to rehab.

Keep praying. I am praying, and starting to offer frustration instead of suffering.

Update- Well, there was a good nurse in place yesterday. Somebody messed up the blood draw, and his labs were out of whack. They started to give him potassium in a bag (IV). The day nurse did a redraw, and his labs were perfect. She immediately removed the IV off the picc, and he was spared having to correct over-potassium!

He was walking without the walker.

We have not heard from the rehab place yet.They were supposed to show up Monday or yesterday. No dice.

Mario passed the swallow test, and can have regular food and liquid. He is either going to get the trache out, or get a smaller one.

Still praying and offering…
 
Burbs, the Lord has surely blessed you both, your strength and courage through your suffering is an inspiring example to us, that with profound faith, the Lord offers us all that is needed to endure each trial we face, and in his mercy, He alone has the power to restore our health!

OK, are you ready for a series of miracles?

1.) The occupational therapy doctor thinks he needs either home health care rehab or day outpatient rehab.
He is too well to go to the rehab centers. He will have to have dailysis for the next couple months 3 times a week, hopefully only for a couple months as the kidneys get back in shape. They are going to cap his trache tomorrow and see how he does with it closed. If he does well, it gets removed Friday.
2.) I was taking the girls to school and rounded the corner. I heard a whine and discovered my transmission went out. I couldn’t rent a car, but I could rent a cargo van from UHaul- and did, at a much cheaper price. I called around, and found out it would cost more to fix my transmission than the car is worth. However, I hopefully have a lead on a replacement used car in my price range through my mechanic.

I am convinced that the Lord is closer than ever this Lent. The sheer number of folks who are in the desert is incredible. Our continued prayers for you and your family, and Mario! None of this would even have been possible just one generation ago. Imagine that…

The trache is being closed today. They capped it last afternoon, and he was 98-100% saturated with oxygen. He will most likely be home this weekend, probably tomorrow (Friday) unless “they” decide he can get into a rehab after all.

So, here is what we need to get things in order for him to move to the next step:
  • This house is a sight after living for a month of running to the hospital!!! I need strength and the cooperation of two girls to clean it up to a respectable level. I have stayed on top of the laundry, dishes, cat boxes, and bathroom, but not much else:o . I guess St. Martha would be the one to consult on that.
  • If he is coming home, I need a decent second-hand recliner. I don’t know about second-hand stores, but St. Nicholas is the patron saint of pawn brokers, so I guess he can handle this one by extension.
  • Transportation. Please pray that the car my mechanic has works out for us. We have a busy schedule of doctor appointments, dialysis, etc., along iwth day-to-day living. St. Christopher still has that one.
  • Money is tight. That’s St.Matthew.
  • In the meantime, I need to apply for things such as food stamps & medical coverage (he was self-employed, and the one school where he worked and had insurance is having fits). St. Thomas More, St. Matthew, St. Joseph and St. Isidore of Seville.
  • I am going to have to find time to go back to work, and all that entails. My last job was a ministry in a Catholic school as the technology director/ manager/ andragogue. St.Joseph the Worker and St. Isidore.
Thank you all for your continued prayers. I am praying and offering up for everyone here on CAF. I don’t have the time to get every prayer intention, but I scan the list at least daily and stop on each intention to pray.
 
Praise be to you Lord, Jesus Christ! In your love and mercy you have brought so much healing into Mario’s body. We offer you resounding praise, and gratitude Lord! Continue to watch over this family, and grant them all that they need to continue on their miraculous recovery, as they look to you with thanks and praise, and undying faith.

Trache is out, and I am a cleaning fool!!! I also got a couple things he could use, like a walker and chair for the shower and plastic wrap for the picc line and dialysis line.

I’ts going to be an all-nighter.

Have a large deposit on the new (to us) car. Will pick it up in the AM, and take back the van.

Things sound to be improving, and I’m forever grateful to God for this…He will see you through. One thing at a time…Mother Teresa was quoted saying, “do what is in front of you.” We can’t drink the ocean–so just take one thing as it comes, and God will see you through it. You are bathed in prayer…just remember that…all of us here are bathing you and your dh in our prayers.

He’s home!!! :extrahappy: I had to get creative on how to get him home, and I won’t have a car until Monday- but he’s home!!!

He has physical therapy at least three times a week on an outpatient basis, and dialysis for the next two weeks three times a week.

I am feeling Our Lord’s Presence by my side every minute. Thank you all for praying, and continuing to pray. I am doing the same.
