I’m interested in hearing any positive stories about finding your husband/wife after prayers, no matter how long it took.
I just want hope that my prayers can be answered if my vocation is marriage 🙂

I prayed for decades - then spent 6 weeks attending Mass every day to pray for God to remove my need for a husband. I met HIM two weeks later - the perfect, God selected man.

Why did God wait until I was ready to give up? God knows! I was 61 by then.

Wow Falco! I’m very happy for you!
Although I do hope I don’t have to wait until I’m 61, that will be 40 years for me!

I know this young fellow from another religion who prayed for a girl friend. He was sent a Catholic and is now engaged to her and taking part in the RCIA program to become a Catholic.
I’ll bet he didn’t see that coming. lol
The hand of God at work. We often don’t get exactly what we want…but often what we need.👍

Thanks for your good wishes, Gemma.

Perhaps the long wait was because all the years that I was praying, this man was happily married. We met 18 months after his wife died. But during that time, God took me to another country and settled me near him, and I was well established when I met him. The funny thing is, although we met in Queensland Australia, we were born 70 miles apart in England.

Definitely, yes. I fervently prayed for God to send me a man I could love, and about four months later I met a nice Catholic man, and we hit it off immediately. It was very supernatural, though. That is why I absolutely know God heard my prayer. When we met, I heard a fairly loud, physical voice that seemed to originate about eight inches behind the back of my head, that announced, “You’re going to marry him”. I mean this was a true, audible voice. Like a person standing right behind me, only there was no one there. And this voice didn’t sound like a man or a woman. It was asexual, but completely normal sounding. I nearly jumped out of my skin when it happened. No one else heard it. I was stunned. I found out about three weeks later that this man (now my husband), had a strange but brief dream that same night. In the dream, he heard a voice that told him, “You have just met your wife”. He woke up and knew the dream was about me, and came back to see me that day. We’ve been inseparable ever since. It’s been 21 years. 🙂

I have no clue why God answered my prayer in such a dramatic and amazing way. I’m sort of expecting him to give us some sort of “mission” or something, but so far nothing. Maybe there was no particular reason for this intervention. Maybe it was just a free gift. Anyway, I’m just thankful to our Heavenly Father for all things He throws our way. Peace!

Thank you, I have prayed this before but did again just now.

Boomerang thanks for sharing, I’m sure it would be heaps easier if everyone’s guardian angel could point out their future spouse! 🙂
Maybe it was Raphael I heard! Who knows? I still can’t get over it. I’ll pray for you. 🙂

Yes! When I was really young, maybe round 13 or so, I heard on the Catholic radio a story of a girl who had prayed for her future husband, and kept it up. When she finally married, she told her husband about her prayers, and the day she had started (she’d kept a journal or some-such), and he turned to her in astonishment and said that was the day his home-town had been bombed and how he had survived and all.

This inspired me to pray for my future husband, and even though I didn’t think it would be that dramatic, and I maybe wasn’t praying every single day, I did keep praying, asking Him to watch over whomever He’d chosen for me, help him to become a good husband, and to prepare me for that one too, and to help me recognize him when our paths crossed. It was often agonizing, because I felt like I had so much to give and yet, no one to give it to. I had to go through a few boyfriends whom I knew, often within weeks, weren’t the one for me, and it was depressing. It almost got to the point where I couldn’t/didn’t want to be in relationships because it just didn’t seem to be what I was praying for, and I was getting to the point of actually getting into the habit of breaking up.

Finally, in college, I met someone who didn’t give up on me, and whom I couldn’t chase away. Lol. It took a year before I agreed to date him, but we dated for the rest of college, and during that time I slowly began to realize my prayer was being answered. Once I realized it, I wouldn’t let go of him either! We got engaged, and now, here we are! Married almost two years later and ready to give birth to our son anytime in the next couple weeks!! :extrahappy: (On my wedding day, I was told I was the calmest bride anyone had ever seen, and I agreed that I was totally calm, not at all worried or freaked out (a blessing, that). And it was because I had absolutely NO doubt whatsoever about the man I was marrying).

Patience is hard, but oh so beautiful when you see the fruits of it! 😃 Sure we have our moments, our ups and downs, and there’ll be more to come, but by golly let no one say prayers aren’t answered!! 😛

Let me briefly share my experiences in this matter. I am now 60 years of age and have always had a simple and humble but trusting faith in the Lord.
I prayed in my early twenties with what I would call prayers of anticipation. I truly believed that because I loved and believed in our Heavenly Father and our blessed Lord and saviour Jesus that the Father would provide for me the most wonderful life partner that any man could hope for.
I would pray every night for my future wife, wherever she was, for her to be kept safe, well and pure and that eventually we would be blessed with a loving Catholic family.
Well I had met a girl whom I fell head over heels over , however she eventually moved on leaving me most distraught. I do not remember whether this was before I started praying, I think it was. I was in a depressed state thinking I would never meet anyone like her again.

Well, how wrong I was !! I was to meet my eventual wife just over 12 months later and she was and has been the most incredible person that the Father could have provided for me. I realised all the pain I went through over the other girl was in vain as this beautiful person and God’s answer to my prayers, was so much more suitable in every possible way.
To this day I find men who remark or give the vibes that how was it that I was so fortunate in finding such a life partner and soul mate as my wife really is. I always remember those prayers of faith that the Father would provide for me as I truly believe and participate in the Sacraments. We were blessed by the way with that loving Catholic family of 1 boy and 2 girls.

Hope this sharing is of help to your own faith, keep those prayers going. I feel sure the Father has a very special choice for you so thank him with all your heart now in anticipation before you meet him!!

God bless always

Dear Gemma,

I have just noticed that you are from Australia as I am also! By the way my wife and I have just celebrated 34 years of a very happy marriage here in Qld.

God Bless

Mine have not been answered – at least the way I wanted:D I’ve prayed for someone for years. I would “give up” and someone would appear that at first looked like an answer to former prayers, but they turned out to not be. So I’m not real sure what lesson I was supposed to learn from those experiences.

I’ve since started praying that God would take the desire to be married away from me. I still turn my thoughts to that but I just continue to pray that He will turn my dreams to another path.

I loveeeee your story!

My mother has an infancy friend with a great and funny story on this topic. This woman decided to pray to st Anthony to find a good catholic husband, she bought a little st Anthony’s statute, and made a little altar for him and started praying to him for a husband. Some years passed (I don’t remember how many maybe two or three I think my mother said:confused:) and nothing. So this woman gets really upset because st Anthony didn’t help so she grabbed the statute, stepped out of her house and threw the statute towards the sidewalk. A man was walking on the sidewalk and the statute hits that man (feel bad for the guy, what a way to meet someone) and he screams, so the woman runs to him apologizing and asking how she can help. The man became her husband and they.have been happily married for many years. I always got a kick out of that story and my mother’s friend loveeees to tell everyone the story of how her and her husband met hahahaha, though I think that story needs a do not attempt this at home LOL

As to me I prayed constantly for that for many years, and after 35 years (and going through an awful first marriage) my prayers were answered and now I have an amazing fiancee and we are getting married shortly, and I have to say my fiancee is exactly what I asked in detail to God in my prayers 🙂 I did have to do some work on my own self and issues before he found me, but my prayers were answered.

You could be me . . . I haven’t had any answers either “yes” or “no.” And no, my desire to be married has never been taken away, either. I’ve never received any “hints” about another path. Sometimes I feel like some poor sucker who’s been left on hold on the prayer phone hotline too long. Just not getting a response. But at my age (pushing 60), I’ve pretty much thrown in the towel. I’m not expecting anything. I guess I’ve just accepted it because I don’t really feel that bad about it most of the time, but sometimes I wonder why I’ve been left out.

I once read a long time ago in a Christian (non-Catholic) single-woman’s-guide-to-find-a-husband book that if God doesn’t send you a husband, then He will make it up to you in the next life. I can’t for the life of me imagine why He would want to do that, or why He’d even bother.

At least for those whose prayers have been answered, well, you are very fortunate.

As I’ve said above (I think), I was 61 when I met my God-given man. All those years I was alone, or in relationships that didn’t work out, my man was happily married. We met 18 months after his wife died.

So don’t despair - you may be marking time until God’s plan for you reaches fruition.

Yes!, but we aren’t married yet, the wedding date is this December 21, 2013, God between.

I humbly prayed with my hands together :gopray2: to the Holy Trinity in front of the Crucifix a few times per day to guide that man He has for me, to protect him from evil and from this mundane world. I prayed and prayed with hope very certain that God was listening and answering my prayers. I kept praying for the protection and guidance of that man He has for me, that he walks the right path towards salvation. I concluded all the prayers with " And let us meet when you think it is time for us to meet." I prayed humbly to God with hope, confidence and trust. Years went by, I continued to pray, and that man appeared in an unexpected place. I did not know it was him the man God had for me, so I trusted God my feelings and asked God through prayer many times, and he answered with that man’s actions. One of them was " if this man knows Spanish, then he is the one." And exactly the next day, this man talked to me in Spanish without me doing anything or asking. Since then, God gave us many green lights, and here we are now betrothed. Patavium, God’s work of art, my most precious blessing to love and cherish, to be faithful to him and guide him towards holiness, my treasure, my confidant, my saint. ❤️
