Did anyone pray to find a spouse and have success?

I prayed the novena to St. Anne for my daughter to find a good husband. Within weeks she met her future husband. They were married nine months later and remain blissfully in love after six years and two children.
I prayed the same novena for my son. Again he found the perfect wife, to whom he is devoted.
Last I prayed for a friend who longed for a companion. She was in her forties. Well, you can guess that she did indeed find her love.
A young friend joked that before I pray a novena for her, she wants to travel a lot first and for me NOT to pray quite yet.
This novena is amazing. I would say it’s nothing short of miraculous!

Definitely, yes. I fervently prayed for God to send me a man I could love, and about four months later I met a nice Catholic man, and we hit it off immediately. It was very supernatural, though. That is why I absolutely know God heard my prayer. When we met, I heard a fairly loud, physical voice that seemed to originate about eight inches behind the back of my head, that announced, “You’re going to marry him”. I mean this was a true, audible voice. Like a person standing right behind me, only there was no one there. And this voice didn’t sound like a man or a woman. It was asexual, but completely normal sounding. I nearly jumped out of my skin when it happened. No one else heard it. I was stunned. I found out about three weeks later that this man (now my husband), had a strange but brief dream that same night. In the dream, he heard a voice that told him, “You have just met your wife”. He woke up and knew the dream was about me, and came back to see me that day. We’ve been inseparable ever since. It’s been 21 years. 🙂

I have no clue why God answered my prayer in such a dramatic and amazing way. I’m sort of expecting him to give us some sort of “mission” or something, but so far nothing. Maybe there was no particular reason for this intervention. Maybe it was just a free gift. Anyway, I’m just thankful to our Heavenly Father for all things He throws our way. Peace!
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. 😊

My mother has an infancy friend with a great and funny story on this topic. This woman decided to pray to st Anthony to find a good catholic husband, she bought a little st Anthony’s statute, and made a little altar for him and started praying to him for a husband. Some years passed (I don’t remember how many maybe two or three I think my mother said:confused:) and nothing. So this woman gets really upset because st Anthony didn’t help so she grabbed the statute, stepped out of her house and threw the statute towards the sidewalk. A man was walking on the sidewalk and the statute hits that man (feel bad for the guy, what a way to meet someone) and he screams, so the woman runs to him apologizing and asking how she can help. The man became her husband and they.have been happily married for many years. I always got a kick out of that story and my mother’s friend loveeees to tell everyone the story of how her and her husband met hahahaha, though I think that story needs a do not attempt this at home LOL

As to me I prayed constantly for that for many years, and after 35 years (and going through an awful first marriage) my prayers were answered and now I have an amazing fiancee and we are getting married shortly, and I have to say my fiancee is exactly what I asked in detail to God in my prayers 🙂 I did have to do some work on my own self and issues before he found me, but my prayers were answered.
Awesome story! 😃

Will you put me on the novena list too?

I guess what upsets me the most is my lack of confidence in myself and my lack of faith. I hear so much how we have to be proactive in finding our spouses, and I am sure that is true, especially for men who are supposed to be the active manly saviors, but I am so uncertain about myself in this life right now that I don’t feel emotionally I can handle the dating or courting scene at this moment. I need to get some things straightened out. I just feel at this point in my life I can’t handle the relationship scene without God’s direct intervention. I would feel a lot of better if God just told me why I am going through what I am going through right now.

This is my story and so far it hasn’t brought me a husband but you never know. Anyway back in Easter Vigil 2012 I prayed to God to help me find a husband as I was ready. I had gone through a string of heartbreak, including being dumped the previous year by a long time friend who became a boyfriend after finding each other after 10 years. By the time Easter Vigil 2012 came around I was doing online dating on both religious and secular sites with very little luck to my age and strict requirements. Anyway, I asked for a husband and got the message I will meet my future husband that summer but it wouldn’t be from online.

Fast forward a month and I was playing cards with my parents and a family friend and I mentioned my cat. The family friend thought I meant this one guy who runs a store in town with his family because they have the same name. She then started talking about this guy and what a great guy he is and too bad he never met a woman. Needless to say I was interested so I decided I would go into his store soon to meet him but in an irony my parents met him a few days later and told him about me and he said he would like to meet me. I then went into his store and introduced myself and we chatted a bit. In a strange irony we discovered we both became involved with a local charity organization. Not long after that we both happened to be at a local bar and decided to play darts with other people and when he handed me the darts he did something strange where he grabbed my arm and smiled and I felt a shock. It was surreal. After that whenever I would see him at events I knew the second he walked in the door and when he would approach me I could feel my body drifting towards his like a magnet. He always approached me before anyone else too. At one event he brought his mom and she pointed me out to her friend and said “that’s his friend”. His mom also grills me about things, such as how Catholic I am and even told my dad I was a nice girl.

Sounds like a sure thing, right? unfortunately a year later we still haven’t gone out and not sure why. Is it because he’s not interested (he also stares at me when we are at events) or because timing is off (he is going through several personal family issues). This scares me to be honest because I have been wrong before about guys but I usually knew, with him I am not getting bad vibes. He also happens to fit everything I desired in a husband, including very Catholic (he has a shrine devoted to the Virgin Mary)and we enjoy the same things. Strangely we also found out we had the same friends and it is very ironic we never crossed paths before last year.

Whether this is the answer to my prayers will be revealed in time I suspect. I am praying it is the right person because he fits what I desire. When I did online dating the majority of the men were missing something important, like they weren’t Catholic or had been divorced with kids.

If he hasn’t asked you out a year later, he’s either not interested (which based on what you said doesn’t sound likely) or something else is going on. I suggest you not drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out. Let him decide to pursue you–if he wants to, he will. I went through a similar experience from the end of last year until early this summer. It was excruciating, but I had to let it go. I prayed about it so I was confident everything happened as it was supposed to.

In his case I think he’s scared and apparently inexperienced dating wise. It does scare me because he fits everything I desire and the men on the dating sites don’t. My biggest fear is we don’t end up together and then I either end up alone or forced to date a man with issues I refuse to bend on, like being a divorced dad. We do hang out together at events and he did sort of ask me out (though by ask out he meant me, him and his mother go to an event). He does have other pressing issues, like running a store and helping his elderly mother out.

I think I see the picture. Perhaps you both are too scared to talk about your relationship. This is because what one says could dramatically change the relationship all together. Of course, this may not really be any relationship at all, just wishful naive thinking. Of course, my biggest mistake in past relationships was telling a girl how I felt about her, so maybe silence is the best policy at this point. Maybe a six month novena, I don’t know…Don’t take my advice.

Maybe I should just shut-up. I can already see the wheels turning.

I think that is part of it, we are both very shy and afraid to approach the subject. Either he is afraid I will reject him or is afraid I will hate him if he turns me down. I won’t, I’ll still like him but not in a romantic way. Not to mention we are interconnected in several ways, like he is involved in an organization with me and another one with my dad, and we share mutual friends. I have mentioned going out and he has mentioned it too but so far it hasn’t happened.

Well, I have been in this situation like yours three times, and each time got dumped by the girl.

Is it a strange thing for a woman to ask a guy out in your culture? If not, why do you not ask him?

Not strange at all and next week I am going to ask him out. In an irony my dad is working on something for him.

I’m interested in hearing any positive stories about finding your husband/wife after prayers, no matter how long it took.
I just want hope that my prayers can be answered if my vocation is marriage 🙂
I did! In 1991, I married for the first time in a civil ceremony to a doctor. I knew within the first month that my marriage was a mistake. I perservered for 3 years, but we divorced in 1994.

I spent the next 13 years looking for love in all the wrong places. In 2003 I started dating someone that I was great friends with, and had admired from afar for years. It was a disappointing disaster that left me shattered and feeling very alone.

Then, my great uncle died. At the rosary, my very elderly aunt greeted everyone with a smile. Knowing how devoted they were to one another, I asked her how she could hold up so well. She told me, “God gave me the privelege of having your uncle as my companion for 65 years. Now, it’s time for him to return to the one who sent him. I must accept the path that God has set out for me.” That’s when I realized that I had been trying to walk my own path, not God’s.

After this, I began praying my rosary every morning when I walked my beagle. I told God, “I don’t think you want me to be alone, but I will accept that path if it’s the one you have for me.” In turn, I promised that I would begin Bible Study, “But!”, I told him, “don’t expect me to like it. I’ll go for one year, that’s all.” Never say never to Him.

Three weeks into Bible Study, I met my husband at the dog park, walking—you guessed it!—another beagle. We dated for 3 years, and I was happy just being in his life when he proposed to me AT THE DOG PARK! Our dogs which had now grown to 3 dogs, began barking and it sounded like church bells after a wedding. When we got home and wound down from the excitement, he told me, “When the dogs began barking, it reminded me of church bells after a wedding.” Cross my heart!😃

When I moved out of my house, the last thing I moved out was my chiffarobe where I keep my Sacred Heart statue. Underneath, I found a paper titled, “What I want for a husband”. I had asked for someone generous like my father, someone with a good job, a widowed man or bachelor (I didn’t want to deal with an ex-wife), “kids ok”, an animal lover, and that he have his own home. As a post-script, I wrote, “God, if it’s not a vanity to ask, let that house have a swimming pool”. It had to be a very hot day when I wrote that. Well, I got everything I asked for in that noted. I thank God daily for my God-given gift of a husband!❤️-]/-]

Wow thanks for sharing!

Could you include me in your novena prayer list too? 🙂

Yes! I prayed to the Virgin Mary. We met on Ave Maria Singles website. I received a sign while praying the rosary with him the week we got engaged. Got engaged on the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. My engagement ring also happens to have a rose. We have had more than our share of hardships, but have been happily married now for nearly 5 years and I thank our Blessed Mother for her clear intercession in our lives. 🙂

Yes, I prayed to the Archangel Raphael for about a year. Ours was a very difficult case but all worked out in the end and we were able to get married.

God bless you and all the best!
