Thanks again. It’s true - Darwin’s gradualism has been replaced by Gould’s punctuated equilibrium. Who is to say that PE won’t be replaced by something else later down the road?

And I always have been dissatisfied with modern science’s treatment of the difference between humankind and other living beings. Intuitively, there does seem to be a difference in kind and not merely degree - that is, we are rational and all other living beings are instinctual (which is why we don’t consider even chimpanzees or dolphins morally responsible for their actions).

When I have some time I’m going to look for those books that you mentioned. For now, I have to leave this thread and get back to my school work.

Thanks for waking me from the sleep of scientific dogmatism. Peace.

and with each new idea the odds against it grow.

It has been good talking with you. Take care.

yes there were people befor Adom. Adom wae the first spirit filled man.and the serpint went to the woman not Eve,two different things

I believe that God created mankind- I believe that at some point mankind became aware of God- that is when the Adam/ Eve narrative begins. When God tells them this is the way to live and prosper they as all humans will do is to say “NO” -I can do it better myself".

St. Paul, writing by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote in 1st Cor.15:45, " And so it is written, The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam(Christ) became a life giving spirit." You can’t have more than one who is “first”. Scripture clearly teaches that Adam was the first man. God bless.

BTW, this scripture, 1st Cor. 15:45, also shoots down the LDS teaching that Adam was just one in a long line of many so called " spirit children" who became human offspring of one of the many supposedly polytheistic " gods" of Mormon theology!

So God created mankind – Did He create one individual or a population which, over thousands of years, continued to live and die until finally some point was reached where a couple could become “aware of God.” Whatever “aware of God” means.

And if God created humanity as a community giving birth over thousands of years, wouldn’t it be logical for God to be upfront about what it really means to be in friendship with Him so that everyone would have a chance at eternal life. Actually, it is more logical for God to first create the kind of nature which can share eternally in His divine life through knowledge and love.

When one actually reads the first three chapters of Genesis, one sees immediately that the Adam and Eve narrative logically begins with the actual creation of human nature. Adam did not have to wait for that point when he could become “aware” of God. God was upfront and personal about the difference between the created being and the Creator. The ground rules were set at “square one”. Adam could continue living in God’s friendship – which includes a lot more than “awareness”–only in free submission to God. This too is a great deal more than knowing how “to live and prosper”.

That is not in accordance with the Church doctrine. Polygenism is not an authentic account of the Creation. God created Man and Woman; from these two came the entire human race.

You are right.

My point is that the “awareness” bit is part of an attempt to water down Church doctrine by proposing polygenism. Another point is that polygenism is not even logical when one has a full understanding of human nature and its goal to be with God eternally. Original Sin has been under attack for ages. The first attack was to consider it symbolic. The current attack is to consider it impossible.

Adam and Eve are an impossibility. We are descended from a pool of thousands of people NOT just one man and one woman. The evidence from genetics is overwhelming.
Clearly, Adam and Eve were not real people.

No the genetics are not overwhelming. They are based on models with accompanying assumptions.

Not much else I can say to you when you deny the hard evidence against your fairy tale beliefs…but you probably accept without any evidence at all that we were made out dirt amd Eve was made from Adam’s rib. Then you wonder why Christians are laughed at.

Many people and scientists were laughed at. No big deal.

Please share the proofs.

I have read research. There are a lot of assumptions and estimates some of which could be valid. Others? One has to realize that the evidence is not overwhelming when going millions of years backwards nor does the evidence warrant the jump to an universal denial of the possibility of two real human parents of humanity.

Adam and Eve are the first human beings.
I’m just curious here?..How did earth go from having Adam and Eve to 6 billion people? Are we then all related? Just wondering that’s all?

I guess this, too, is a mystery of faith right? Something that cannot be comprehended but to be believed,…in faith. I meant no disrespect in anyway just want to know that’s all.

Six billion people is not at all a problem for Adam and Eve. However, if you set Adam and Eve’s date back too far the population would be magnitudes greater than 6 billion.

Yes, we are all brothers. That is also why all humans have dignity.

Did “people” exist before Adam and Eve? Scientific gene analysis says that there was an “Eve” about 400,000 years ago- the mother of us all- we all have her mitochondrial DNA. So about 6000 years ago Adam and Eve came on the earth to lead us to eternal life through the Scriptures, I can’t see an alternative from the logic that says Adam and Eve were the first persons- they were the first who believed in G-d.

There is more to human origin than believing in God. In order to understand, may I kindly suggest that one actually read the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition, paragraphs 355-421.
