Did Jeff Sessions make illegal border crossings a sin?

I would break the law if it were the only way to get my family out of poverty. Can you provide evidence that the Vatican has condemned undocumented immigrants as sinful? Or is this your own interpretation and spin?

I think Catholic Charities has already participated in helping illegals remain in the counrty. I was taught two evils don’t make a right. First they broke the law coming here and the the church breaks the law by hiding them in sanctuary churches.

Your reference is for immigrants who are starving or genocide. People coming to America are FAT and in no danger so your reference does not apply. Catholic social doctrine say “only help immigrants if their host country is willing to make changes” otherwise your just taking in their adversaries.

The Vatican is too ashamed to admit its’ a sin however the catechism says for immigrants to honor the host countries laws.
 
Not if there is a mother or close adult relative or a designated guardian who is available. And foster care is not the same as internment. And even in internment of undocumented immigrants, it is not necessary to take minors away from their parents. It is traumatic and cruel. Come back when you cease to try to defend the indefensible. This is cruelty and intimidation and not at all in line with Catholic social doctrine.
 
So 100% of immigrants are fat and in no way fleeing terrible, even potentially deadly situations in their home countries?

Hence the problem they are just coming to visit their relatives and not fleeing violence. If you look at the picture above you can see the people fleeing and they are not starving. As far as keeping families together listen to Kirstjen Nielsen of home land security says [at the end of the video we separate children all the time in America when Parents break the law.

Legal immigration, for the minute few to whom it is available, is largely based on who has a close relative in the U.S. That’s the default preference regarding refugees, asylees, and immigrants.
 
The Dust Bowl victims fled to California. Had California been a foreign country, there’s no doubt in my mind that the Tom Joads of the world most justifiably would have entered anyway.

Sorry it just doesn’t work that way. I asked for a voice from the Vatican, not a single priest that you Googled up. Premature closure of inquiry is never the way to go in these discussions.

Immigration has always been around and always will be. People are in a constant struggle to find a better life for themselves and their children. This is not a sin. There are plenty of bible passages where God instructs us to treat these people well. God also instructs governments to enact laws that are to protect the foreigner same as the citizen.

To God we are all immigrants and tenants so lets treat these people humanely.

You should respect the priesthood and support them for a priest is representative of the Catholic church…your source was just a professor with a degree but not as much authority. Remember I was the one who ask this question is illegal immigration (hoping the fence) a sin. If you go to confession and say "Father forgive me for I have hoped the border fence’ Father would say were you hungry or in danger of being killed and you said “No father I just wanted something better then what we have in Mexico” FATHER WOULD HAVE TO SAY YOU ARE IN SIN. Possible MORTAL sine if a border officer tripped on a stone and died because of your actions you would be in Mortal sin.

If no one has statement from a priest or bishop that says it’s OK to enter a country because you want to, without any qualifiers like hunger or extermination, then let’s consider this discussion accomplished knowing that according to catechism 2241 " the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption." We can considered this discussion closed.
 
For those of you still struggling with this issue here is book by Father Bascio ( a priest) who talks of the dangers of any immigration.
