Did Jesus have Mary's DNA?

And, since Mary was legally married to Joseph, it makes sense to clone those genes after his pattern. Both Mary’s and Joseph’s genes for that matter can be cloned. this is all specuation as I said before. And, if God can make Jesus as a special creation, cloning those genes of his parents, then he can make those genes pure, without sin.
That Jewish Marriage Customs is amazing, Ive read bits of it but that lays the whole thing out nicely. How very interesting.

And after the comments made about Joesph, it seems he should be considered more.

As for this DNA I hadnt thought about it too much, Guess I figured God made the world so it wouldnt be a problem for Him to have Mary pregnant.

🙂

The Blood type of every Eucharistic miracle is AB. But according to the book eat right for your blood type this blood type did not exist until about 900 AD. Although anything is possible with God I find it hard to believe that God the Father and the Holy Spirit have any human DNA as they are not human. On the other hand we are created in Their likeness.
AB+ or AB-?

Well, now, this poses a very interesting problem doesn’t it? Of course, He must have had our Blessed Mother’s DNA if He was born of her! But what about the other 50% Where exactly did that God DNA come from? Now, find me a biologist who can explain that, and you will impress me beyond belief! :rotfl:

I have never heard of this argument before. Do those who advocate it believe Jesus had no human DNA? because if He had, it must have been from Mary…if He hadn’t, it means they believe He is only God, not a human as well, which is a very early heresy opposed by the Church . Corrections?
Dear inJesus,

Basically you are correct. Some of Jesus DNA must be from Mary since Jesus is human, but some came from God. The exact percentage, I will not comment on this. I simply don’t know.

Genesis 3:15 is not even messianic in nature. In context, it is speaking to Satan, about diffuculties between the offspring of Adam and Eve with Satan. In fact, in Romans, Satan is bruised under the feet of Christians by God. And, nowhere in scripture are we informed that Mary’s heel was injured or bruised.

Romans 16:20
And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Dear Daniel,

In Genesis 3:15 God said to the snake “I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed. It shalt bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel”. (KJV)

It would be the seed of the woman who will bruise satan’s head, and be bruised (at the heel) by the seed of the serpent. Keep in mind that the translation is using seed in singular form, and also the wording of “his heel” which means masculine. The verse did not say that Mary would be bruised at the heel. Indeed Gen 3:15 is the prophesy made by God Himself about human salvation. The seed of the woman, we know today is Jesus.

So, Roman 16:20 does not contradict my posting. I also believe in Paul, so I agree with Roman 16:20 completely.🙂 Paul also said in his other letter, that we as the member of the “ecclesia” is the body in which Jesus Christ is the head. In this case, we are one in Christ, not in cooperation or in a group or a pact, but in a single body. So, in unity with Christ, we the Christian bruised satan’s head under our feed, but our heel was bruised by satan also.

I hope you can understand me. Nice talking to you, brother.

When I returned to Christianity, Christ then led me to His Mother. From my Rosary Running journal 11-5-2006 it came to me to remember an article from SCIENCE VOL 296 JUNE 21,2002. “A mother’s love is enduring.” This article was given to me about 4 years age by an evangelical couple. It was for my information about what may cause auto-immune illnesses in women. It describe how women retain cells from their children’s bodies for decades after giving birth to them. This was discovered when doctors found male cells on different organs of women who were being examined for immune disorders. In becoming human Jesus subjects Himself to the same known and unknown forces that all of us are influenced by daily. He does this without the influence of a genetic history of original sin. Mary in God’s plan is the new Eve who gets her identity from God and not from her relationship to a man as Eve did. She had to be free from the history of sin in her DNA in order to be able to fully understand herself as a creation of God and her meaning in God’s plan for all of us. She could only face the suffering and evil without doubt by being free of the influence of original sin which creates doubt in all of us and is the reason for our suffering. She would retain her son’s cells in her body throughout her life. This was the First Communion for mankind. Christ begins His life with His Mother in a purity of love without fear that all of us have been created to receive and give. He is born into the DNA without the trauma of sin that we would also have and will have without the influence of evil and its effect of blinding us to the truth of who we are in God.

Hi

Closely related to the Chromosomes and DNA issue, I find the following passage written by Mirza Tahir Ahmad, grandson of the PromisedMessiah 1835-1908.

alislam.org/library/books/christianity_facts_to_fiction/chapter_1.html#pgfId-1006068

“According to the latest experimental research, however, the possibility of virgin birth has been shown to be scientifically feasible. A report in the Nature Genetics of Oct. 1995 discusses the remarkable case of a three-year-old boy whose body is derived in part from an unfertilized egg. The researchers examined DNA sequences all along the X chromosomes in the boy’s skin and blood and discovered hat the X chromosomes in all his cells were identical to each other and derived entirely from his mother. Similarly, both members of each of the 22 other chromosome pairs in his blood were identical and derived entirely from his mother.”

Any thoughts

Thanks

I have a hard time believing that the blood type didn’t exist before then. Prior to that, what would have happened had you inherited one A chromosome and one B chromosome?

I think Jesus would have had the BVM’s DNA…how could he not? It’s the other half that’s more mysterious…though with God anything is possible and I’m sure Hecould have created it out of thin air if he wanted to. After all, He must have done so with Adam.

Paar, Thank you for that information. Skatepixie, you just made my day with your info about my blood type AB pos. It is interesting that it would not appear until after 900 AD if the info is correct. I love the mystery.
Paar, I would like more info about your Messiah.

I have a hard time believing also, but according to the book it didn’t evolve until the Mongolians and Cuacasians intermingled.

From Eat Right For Your Blood Type, pg.12-13
"Type AB blood is rare.Emerging from the intermingling of Type A Caucasians and Type B Mongolians, it is found in less than 5 percent of the population, and it is the newest of the blood types.
Until ten or twelve centuries ago, there was no type AB blood. Then barbarian hordes sliced through the soft underbelly of many collapsing civilizations, overrunning length and breadth of the Roman Empire. As a result of the intermingling of these Eastern invaderswith the last trembling vestiges of European civilization. Type AB blood came to be. No evidence for the occurrance of this blood type extends beyond nine hundredto a thousand years ago, when when a large western migrationof eastern peoplestook place. Blood Type AB is rarely found in European graves prior to A.D. 900. "

Was Jesus telling us that He was a new creation and this blood type AB pos was a part of that evidence? Does this also confirm that Mary would have remained a virgin?

Hi

Jesus creation into the womb of Mary, another possibility; creation of life without a male, exists though rarely, Mirza Tahir Ahmad grandson of the PromisedMessiah 1838-1908 discusses the same:

Parthenogenesis

This is the asexual development of a female ovum into an individual, without the aid of a male agent. It is observed among many lower forms of life such as aphids and also fish. There is also evidence that parthenogenesis can be a successful strategy among lizards living under low and unpredictable rainfall conditions. In laboratory conditions, mice and rabbit embryos have been developed parthenogenetically to a stage equivalent to halfway through pregnancy, but have then been aborted. In recent study, human embryos could be activated occasionally by parthenogenesis using calcium ionophore as a catalyst. Such research raises the prospect that some early human pregnancy losses may have involved the parthenogenetic activation of the embryo.

Hermaphroditism

This term applies when organs of both sexes are present within a single female and the chromosomes show both male and female characters aligned side by side. Laboratory tests have revealed cases such as that of a hermaphrodite rabbit which, at one stage, served several females and sired more than 250 young of both sexes, while at another stage, became pregnant in isolation and gave birth to seven healthy young of both sexes. When autopsied, it showed two functional ovaries and two infertile testes while in a pregnant condition. Recent studies suggest that such a phenomenon is possible, rarely, among humans also.

Any comments; one may differ with the writer with arguments

Thanks

Dear Paar, You are citing animal studies and state that what you are identifying is rare in humans. However, it is not rare in humans because it never has occurred except with Mary and Jesus.

I am AB+ myself.

Personally, I consider nutrition books based on blood typing a bit…unorthodox, perhaps? I’d like other sources for AB not appearing until 900 AD aprox., myself.

What does the Bible say and how did Jesus view Mary His mother? Answering these questions will help you with your question.
Matt 12:46-47

While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. 47 Someone said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.”
NASU

Matt 13:55-56
55 "Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 "And His sisters, are they not all with us?
NASU

John 19:26-27
26 When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, " Woman, behold, your son!"
NASU

Notice from the above verses that Mary, Jesus’ mother, had other children after Jesus was born, or else how could Jesus have brothers?

What they need to learn besides the Bible is Basic Biology 101.
No, what needs to be relearned is Biblical Biology 101.

It’s hilarious to see all the talk about DNA. Neither the Prophets, the Apostles, nor the Fathers had any conception (pun intended) of DNA when they formulated the doctrine of the Virgin Birth. DNA simply wasn’t known by them to exist and therefore could not have informed their thinking on these matters.

The Fathers – for the sake of brevity I’ll use “Fathers” to refer to the Prophets, the Apostles, and the Fathers collectively – understood human reproduction to function similarly to plant biology and used similar terms to describe both. This is why a man’s emission is called “seed” and why women’s wombs are called “fertile” or “barren” depending on whether or not they could produce offspring. It wasn’t just metaphor. Human reproduction was actually thought to take place in the same fashion as plant reporduction – the “seed” of the man was sown into the “soil” of the woman’s womb, and if the woman’s soil was “fertile”, a child would result, while if the woman’s soil was “barren”, no child would result.

What is particularly important about this paradigm of human reproduction are the male and female contributions to the development of the child. Under this paradigm, the child’s existence starts entirely with the man. In the man’s “seed” is the basic principle of life that will either take root or not in the “soil” of the woman. The woman, in other words, contributes NO original material to the child. The woman is merely the vessel in which the child is planted while in “seed” form. So what does the woman contribute? Well, what does soil contribute to the seed of a plant? While in the soil, a plant’s seed takes nutrients from the soil and coverts those nutrients into the building blocks of its own body. Under the Fathers’ paradigm of reproduction, the human child-seed does exactly the same thing: it takes nutrients (i.e., “flesh”) from its mother’s womb and converts those nutrients in the building blocks of its own body. This is why we commonly hear that Christ “took flesh” of the Virgin Mary – the divine (i.e., not Adamic) seed implanted by God in the Virgin Mary “took flesh” from her and formed a human body for itself, eventually resulting in the child Jesus Christ.

This “seed and soil” paradigm is the understanding under which the Church worked for over 1500 years. It wasn’t until the microscope was invented that male sperm and female eggs were discovered, thus causing a radical redefinition of human reproductive biology that the Church felt compelled to take into account. In the process, we’ve generally lost the understanding that it was once thought, prior to the discovery of sperm and egg, that the child originally came wholly from the man and only took flesh of the woman, and that’s an epic loss considering the implications of biblical reproductive thought on topics like Original Sin, the Virgin Birth, the Immaculate Conception, and even artificial birth control. How much of the Fathers’ – and, consequently, the Church’s – teachings and writings were (and perhaps still are) influenced by what really amounts to a faulty understanding of human biology?

P.S.: All the talk about blood types is really off the wall. According to the doctrine of transubstantiation, the “accidents” of the bread and wine remain even though the “substance” of the bread and wine have become the Body and Blood of Christ. Since “accidents” basically means “how the substance interacts with the observable universe,” the end result is that the Body of Blood of Christ interacts with our bodies just as regular bread and wine does. So don’t give yourself a blood transfusion with Eucharistic wine, because all you’ll do is raise your blood-alcohol content!

And, honestly, to orally consume the blood of someone having a conflicting blood type is not a danger anyway (or else rare steaks would be dangerous on that account), so why does this even matter?

Jesus could not have inherited only his mother’s gene. Mary, being a female, had two X chromosomes. The Y chromosome, which is necessary for a baby to be male, is inherited from the father only. Therefore, for Jesus to be born male, a Y chromosome had to be created from someone other than Mary.
Zaffiroborant and Windmill,

I’m posting this in response to a request by Zaffiroborant as to the thread that I had read about Jesus being the Son of the Highest and the Son of Mary in the flesh. I agree that He was the Son of both of them. It hadn’t been coming across clearly to me that there was a consistent Catholic belief that Jesus was the literal son of Mary through His DNA given to Him by her.

MIsinterpretation. Please read my OP in the “Sifting through the Mary’s” thread. I demonstrate that the Mary who is the mother of James and Joses is NOT Mary the mother of Jesus.
