Response to BayCityRickL continued:I disagree, in part, with your second sentence: “We see rather plainly that he would have been “taken out” for blasphemy, before His mission was complete.” That’s exactly what happened (but not before his mission was complete):
John 10:31-33
Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him,
but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”
“We are not stoning you for any of these,” replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God
**Although, it’s true when Jesus performed miracles and revealed himself as the Messiah, he told his disciples, not to tell anyone:
**
Luke 9
20 Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, "The Messiah of God."
**21 He directed them not to tell this to anyone. **
Matthew 16
**20 Then he strictly ordered his disciples to tell no one that he was the Messiah. **
Mark 8
**29 And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said to him in reply, “You are the Messiah.” **
**30 Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him. **
Statement:
John Paul II said in Crossing the Threshold of Hope that some people don’t believe in Jesus because of the way He revealed Himself. That’s what you’re saying here. Nice that you agree with the Pope on this one.
Response:
Thank you, I guess. I don’t quite know what you are saying here?
Thank you. God Bless!
