Incredibly, posters here continue to provide downright lies about a dead man
Nope. Just quoting his works. You, and every Lutheran that is aware of these works, have the obligation to inform every Lutheran that is naive to these deplorable sayings.
If you present it outside of context, using snippets and partial quotes, and not present the historical background, you aren’t informing, you are deceiving and misrepresenting

I identified four points above. They were reposted. No one can dispute the actual facts.

I kind of get the impression Luther sort of invented his own theology as he went along, is this accurate? Don’t mean any disrespect, but I get that impression, and that he did so based on his inner gut of what made him feel good.

Calvin I see as more stable and coherent, I suppose, even though if i had to choose between Lutheranism and Calvinism i would choose the first undoubtedly

There is no need.

What is really indefensible is the attitude of the Catholic posters on this thread. There have been 50 years of change in Catholic attitudes towards Luther with the reassessment of his theology - including the current Pope’s visit to Lund. Among other things, Luther has been declared a “witness to the Gospel”.

You should be aware of Catholic ecumenical work if you wish to engage Protestants, particularly if you want to discuss Luther. Your pope as your head pastor is someone you should follow. You seem to be scandalously defying him, if you are at all aware of current Catholic assessments on Luther. If you are not aware of them, you should be.

It is utterly hypocritical for Catholics to be condemning Luther for not following the church when they themselves stubbornly, obstinately and stupidly are determined to remain in willful ignorance of Cathollic teaching on Luther.

Final post regarding those who defend the indefensible: I am on high-dose steroids, and this has caused me, and others some grief - any and all for which I am truly sorry. I have not changed my thinking one bit, and cannot, but will keep those thoughts to myself. Let human reason and research expose the man for what he was.

The man’s own words speak volumes about his numerous and profound problems. To allege lying in merely exposing those truths is both beyond the pale as well as a disservice to the truth. That man was excommunicated and identified as a heretic for the sake of souls.

I see no reasonable defense of such obstinate heresy.

Protestants on this thread:

There is no other point that should be discussed with Catholics re Luther except the one I just made when they bring out the mud.

I simply post verbatim quotes of Luther and I am somehow ‘deceiving and misrepresenting’. When you write in a lewd and coarse manner, the context matters not, the manner is still lewd and coarse.

Let me ask you this: those quotes I posted from Luther; would I be able to use those same vile words towards you and defend them with the ‘context’ defense as you love to do?

“Who am I to judge?”

Does this sentence endorse homosexual behavior, as is widely believed? Or does it require proper context?

Pope Francis. Apparently you missed this ALONG WITH EVERYTHING REGARDING ECUMENISM IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SINCE VATICAN 2.

Are you living in the 1500’s?
You refused to condemn Catholics for such language.

He seems to be. He is ignoring my posts.

If he was Catholic he would be in submission to the Catholic Church in how he approaches ecumenism.

So why does he condemn Luther?

Guys. Peace!
Please. You’re talking about things that have not been resolved in 5 centuries of debates, wars, propaganda and dialogue. You sure as heck aren’t gonna resolve it now. Pray for Luther. Pray for Catholics. Pray for God to guide us into His ways
