Did Mother Theresa ok divorce for Diana ?

In this weeks NEWSWEEK, writer Christopher Hitchens claims that while Mother Theresa campaigned against legal divorce in IRELAND , she encouraged her friend Princess Diana to obtain one. Ant truth to this ?-- comments ?
 
since this writer has not provided valid sources for any of the other preposterous claims he made in his article, he has none for this one either, this is one bitter, hurting individual, let us all pray for him.
 
As far as I’m aware divorce is certainly legal in Ireland, so I don’t see how Mother Teresa COULD campaign against it.

Remember that in certain cases the church does recognise the regrettable necessity of divorce - when protection is required for the physical safety or legal rights and assets of either partner or any children. It’s remarriage that is forbidden under any circumstances.

In the case of Princess Diana and her children both the assets and legal rights would be quite substantial and very complicated. So Mother Teresa’s position in that regard isn’t inconsistent.
 
I think its bogus. Its nice that dear Mother T is not having to deal with this tripe now.

Why cant they leave her alone? I get so mad hearing this stuff.

Well, why do school bullies pick on intelligent kids?

As my headmaster told me, they put them down in order to feel better about themselves.

Same thing here. Mother T is a very good person, and seeing such a good person makes bad people feel even worse about themselves (guilt).

But by putting her down, trying to make her seem not so good after all, they think they can make themselves seem not so bad.

Why is this Hitchens guy even being read? Well, he’s being read and supported by other bullies who don’t have the guts to make up their own insults so they just piggyback on his. He is their saviour who can remove their guilt by putting down not merely good people in the local area, but the best people internationally.
 
First thought: Mother Theresa had no authority to “ok” divorce for anyone!?!?

Second thought: Conspiracy Theory: No wonder the aliens/black helicopters/trilateral commission/Elvis/insert your own here had them both assassinated within a week of each other!?!!! :eek:

Constant thought: Hitchens is an iconoclast. Who cares?
