Did the Pope bless/exorcise the National's Stadium?

Greetings! I’m not a sports fan, so I haven’t kept up with this, but there was some angst over a Red Sox jersey being embedded in concrete in the new stadium to “curse” the stadium. I know they chipped through the concrete to remove the item and are going to auction it to raise money (cancer research?). I was wondering if any of the priests, bishops, or the Pope himself blessed the area where the jersey was buried to remove the “curse” of the evil wish against the Nationals.

Not that I believe in anything like “curses.” That’s just a superstition (knock on wood).

😉

It was Yankee stadium and yes there is such thing as curses, although that wasn’t done as a curse. It would be a real scary world if such things as jerseys can curse us! 😃 😛

Actually curses are real. I doubt burying a jersey would work, but cursing someone by calling down demons upon them has resulted in cases of possession according to the exorcist of Rome, Fr. Gabriele Amorth. In fact, Fr. Amorth says most of his cases are the result of curses.

Yes, sometimes entire families can suffer from a curse…the grandchildren of a cursed man may still be tormented by evil spirits. Fr. Amorth and other exorcists talk about this sort of thing…sacraments and sacramentals are our defense!

For the record, I know about and believe in curses, the expression of an evil desire against someone. I also know how powerful they can be. I was attempting to be light-hearted, as I don’t believe simply embedding a rival team’s jersey in the structure counts as or would have the effect of an actual curse. (Now, if they had found the jersey wrapped around some animal bones or with some fetish or another, that would be a different matter.)

Still, my question remains: what sort of **spiritual **preparation was done to make the site ready for the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass? (The same question would apply to Yankee Stadium.)

I believe it had to be sanctified, then de-sanctified when the Mass was over. I might be wrong about this, but I’m pretty sure that holds true for any space that’s being used for the Holy Mass.

I heard that the last time a pope said Mass at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees were in last place. They aren’t doing to well this year, either. 😉 (and neither are the Nationals)

I hadn’t heard anything about this, but I hope that the Holy Father blessed the stadium. Our beloved Nationals aren’t doing so well this year!

As my car mechanic would say, “Well, THERE’S your problem right There!” The Stadium was blessed. People will be safer there (unless they eat the hot dogs, of course). It’s the TEAM that needed to be blessed/exorcised!

:bigyikes:
