We’re the same. Something is very special with the mass; at some point I start to tear up, but I always manage to fight it because I don’t want to attract attention.
Because you’re near the altar (as server) you must have sensed the divine energy coming from this holy celebration. Saints like St. Augustine, St. John Chrysostom and St. Bridget had attested to the presence of angels in the altar, either surrounding the priests or the Sanctuary; but I’d like to quote St. Bridget on this one:
“One day when I was assisting at the Holy Sacrifice, I saw an immense number of Holy Angels descend and gather around the altar, contemplating the priest. They sang heavenly canticles that ravished my heart; Heaven itself seemed to be contemplating the great Sacrifice. And yet we poor, blind, and miserable creatures assist at the Mass with little love, relish, and respect.”
Anyway, back to the topic, I also cry practically every time I watch the religious song “WE ARE THE REASON” on YouTube. Watching this often somehow transformed me since contemplating the passion of Jesus makes me want to love Him more and desire to sin less to avoid hurting my Savior.
