yes orange and yellow veggies are good for you. so is carrot cake a veggie.

And don’t forget that veggie = pumkin pie - oh, I could sleep in pumkin pie 😛 😛 😛

I ended up buying This Good Food: Contemporary French Vegetarian Recipes from a Monastery Kitchen, by Brother Victor D’Avila-Latourrette. It came in a few days ago.

It looks good, but not something I can do on a week-night.

He divides up the recipes according to season, winter, spring, summer and fall, making use of foods according to their time of season. Some say eating according to the seasons, is the healtiest way to eat. Lot’s of soups for this time of year, and through winter. Some healthy looking deserts as well.

As usual, Brother Victor has prayers and words of wisdom from the saints to go with each recipe.

It only cost me $15 with shipping, so that wasn’t too bad.

You might look up information on The Light Weigh…it is online, I know…now, it is not a Vatican Weight Loss program but the woman who began it is orthodox in her Catholic views. She also provides great recipes for Catholic Feast Days!!!

BTW - I think candy corn is a veggie and chocolate is a food staple…I mean, come ON…

I have to share this with the parish bulletin my brother sent me from his Catholic parish in Michigan (which shall remain nameless). I quote verbatim:
The Holy Family Council of Catholic wish to thank the K of C members who helped in setting up for the bazaar and those who donated baked gods.

I note in the same bulletin: "Annual Beef and Venison Dinner. All You Can Eat Stew Dinner. $6.00 per person. Prizes: 1st Model 7400 Remington auto w/case, 2nd Model 870 Remington shotgun, 3rd Model 10/22.22 cal rifle. 4th Traditions Pursuit Muzzle loader, also hunting knives and other gear.

You shoot 'em we stew 'em.

Oh, I forgot to mention this parish is staffed by Franciscans.
