Dear Greylorn,

I guess what I am trying to say in a nutshell … is that you are so right … that studying creation you can achieve a certain knowledge of God. Creation is a “word” of God. You are a “word” of God. I am a “word” of God. All beauty and goodness in the world is a “word” of God. But there is a WORD that spoke all other words. “And the WORD became flesh” Saint John writes. This WORD is He who spoke you. If you want to know who you are, you have to come to know the ONE who spoke you. What I am telling you is not from study or books, but from an experience I had once of GRACE. I know in my bones with all my heart what I have said here is real.

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word Of Life. This Life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1

Please listen to this song. I am not a huge country music lover, but this song touched my heart and moved me to tears … and I hope it will do the same for you and help you to understand a little better the meaning of the Cross …

"Bless The Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts

I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn’t see how every sign pointed straight to you

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like Northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

I think about the years I spent just passing through
I’d like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You’ve been there you understand
It’s all part of a grander plan that is coming true

[Chorus]

Now I’m just rolling home
Into my lover’s arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you.

Modern day Catholics are much like Old Testament believers in that they follow the letter of the law, but completely miss the “spirit” of the law. The law on not eating meat on Friday can be just one more obligation the Church required of others – or it can be an opportunity for people to enter into the “spirit” of Lent – to learn a little more about the meaning of sacrifice and temptation, to spend more time in prayer realizing our need for God and that “man does not live on bread alone.”

I am a lot more like you than you realize. I do not trust people either, especially people in authority. (By the way, I call this type of conversation “dialogue” and not debate – something very precious to me). I do trust Holiness in other people and there are holy people in the world. Holiness is the proof of the pudding. In a nutshell – Holiness is genuine Love - a humble spirit who sincerely loves other people out of love for God simply because of knowing God’s love for them. Mother Teresa is someone I really love and HIGHLY respect. Like the moon reflecting the light of the sun, she was a soul that genuinely reflected the light of God’s love. Those are the kind of people I trust. But even more so, there is one human being I trust (or want to trust) – Jesus. I have had a few locutions involving Jesus that I know are real. My spiritual experience(s) are my guideposts that authenticate what I know is true. All the goodness, tenderness, humility, kindness, gentleness I find in other people like Mother Teresa are only signposts that point me in the right direction – towards Jesus. Yes, I have met Jesus. To me He is not just a historical figure who lived thousands of years ago, but is still alive today. He has been very kind and gentle with me. If it was up to me, I would have pulled the plug on myself a long time ago.

I agree with you that the Universe is a “word” of God – spoken by God that reveals something about God to us. You also are a “word” of God as am I. Everything God has created reveals something about the Creator – just as all Art reveals something about the Artist. But there is one WORD that is above all other “words” - Jesus. He is the “WORD OF GOD” in Person. The Artist has entered His painting and become one of us. If you really want to know who God is and get to know what He is like – get to know Jesus as a Person. Mother Teresa (like the moon) is only a reflection of the sun’s rays. But Jesus really is the SON. All beauty and holiness eminates from Him. I want to trust Him.
I understand your faith, but have had no personal religious experiences. The excellent book, “The Spiritual Brain,” shows that many people do, like yourself. My experiences have been different, and mostly negative. So much so that I advise religious friends not to pray for me, so as not to call God’s attention to my existence.

Several years ago a friend pointed out that by inducing rich countries to donate food and medical help to third world nations, thereby increasing their population and the pressure on food resources, without simultaneously changing their culture to one in which market principles encourage and reward self-production, Mother Teresa has contributed to more bloodshed and misery in the world than Hitler and Stalin combined. He made a pretty convincing case. No doubt she was well intentioned.

Christ planned his work more effectively, introducing his ideas in the middle of an expanding empire where it would be picked up naturally and gradually become part of the Roman culture. He used free-market principles and was obviously very successful.

It is unfortunate, IMO, that the Church chose to expand Christ’s teachings on interpersonal human behavior into dogmas on subjects that were really beyond its capabilities, and which, by my reading the first 3 books of the NT, were also beyond Christ’s intentions. Oh, well.

Your notion of “getting to know” Christ as a person is, to me, an absurd idea. It requires a face-on interaction. Even a phone line or email address would facilitate the process. I would never presume to know anything about a person or entity from reading what others have written about him, especially what any religion has written.

I’m curious as to why you bother conversing with me. I’ve no desire to convert you to my ideas, which would be impossible, and you must know that my path is so far removed from conventional beliefs (on all subjects) that I’ll be walking it alone until I die.

One of my gifts from the creators is a fairly crummy body. I tried doing things with it that it was not well equipped to do (when younger), and since I was kicking myself around from time to time, either random chance or the powers that be decided to get in a few good licks of their own. As a result, my body is held together with plastic parts, staples, and large screws. One ear does nothing except produce a constant high frequency whistle, and the other is barely functional with a hearing aid. I cannot make out the sounds that come through my computer’s low bandwidth speakers, so sending me stuff to listen to is a waste of time.

I used to enjoy Flatts and Scruggs music, but never thought of it as country. I’ve never liked Colbert, and found him a pretentious atheistic shmoo when last I tuned him in. He’s not someone I’d bother putting in a new hearing aid battery to hear. Few are.

I do deserve to be insulted. It helps me to realize how I have not treated other people with respect, and for that I am really sorry. Thank you for helping me to realize my behavior and the tone of my words. Please call me out on it if I ever do again.
You have never generated a post to me which I found insulting. Unlike more sensitive individuals, I appreciate someone who speaks his mind even when I disagree with him.

I don’t mind an expression of anger, and while not fond of insults, one who giveth must also learn to receiveth.

Style is important. Posters who simply make assertions which they justify by pointing to either religious or scientific dogma are not interesting. But you make it a point to justify and explain where you come from. That is always appreciated by me, and is often touching.

So please, take off the sack cloth and rinse out the ashes. Depending upon your size, I have some nice suits that I’ll never use again, and will be happy 🙂 to send them your way.

Mother Teresa has contributed to more bloodshed and misery in the world than Hitler and Stalin combined. He made a pretty convincing case. No doubt she was well intentioned.
What have you been smoking to say this?

It is a cause-effect thing. She arranged for the support of 3rd and 4th world populations by getting wealthier countries like ours to contribute free food and drugs, but neglected to arrange for other aspects of their lives, such as the societal infrastructure necessary to support the consequential increase in populations. As a result, the left the people she “helped” at the mercy of better organized power structures, e.g: Islam, the Russians, and the communist Chinese, all competent enslavers and exploiters. Yes, I know that some of our corporations have been guilty of this, but our incompetent pikers have been largely squeezed out of the picture.

There have been too many genocidal wars in Africa to count. Why? There are too many people, insufficient food, and a weak infrastructure in much of that continent. Plus governments ranging from incompetent to evil.

Humans are biological life forms like any others, and subject to the effects of population pressure. In “nature,” predators cull the weakest of any species. Disease culls out the weak when food shortages come. M. Teresa arranged the survival of the weak, I would say in defiance of the Creators arrangements. Thus, the children she saved grew up to be boy soldiers, raped women, members of villages butchered wholesale by other children she saved, now grown up and hungry.

I know it is not politically correct to say, let people die, but I wish every day that my parents had let me die on two childhood occasions when nature had other plans. It would be better than living in a defective body. Then, do recall that the only certainty in life is death.

Like I said, I’m sure that Mother T. was well intentioned, just not willing to see the consequences of her actions.

Me too, but I do not, because there is no “Him” to trust. When young, I did. Finally, I realized that I was trusting the words of man, and the interpretations of other men of those words. There is, at best, hearsay evidence for Christ’s existence. There is better evidence for the existence of the successful liar Joseph Smith and the thief/sexual predator Muhammed than for Jesus Christ. I wish otherwise, believe me.

Yes, I know you believe that Christ is God, and I’d not consider that you do otherwise. Your beliefs apparently work for you. The same beliefs stopped working for me long ago.

I accept Christ’s moral teachings as represented in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, with a few exceptions. They are so clear and powerful that they stand alone. They do not need a Church to support them. I do not need to believe that they were given up by a Son of God in order to see their value. They are the independent social equivalents of mathematical truths, and would be of equal value if it was you or I who first put them into language.

Dear Greylorn,

I am back and manic today. Watch out because here it comes. When you insult Mother Teresa, you insult my own Mother, you insult every Mother; you insult the Mother of Jesus - the Mother of God - Mary

In my own estimation, Mother Teresa was one of the greatest Saints in our lifetime along with John Paul 2nd. Like Albert Einstein, prodigies come around few and far between the centuries. I rank Mother Teresa and John Paul 2 as two of the greatest Saints ever!!! You made the comment that Mother Teresa led to more bloodshed and misery in the world more so than Hitler and Stalin combined. Sir, you insult me with your comment and every Mother in the world - especially the Mother of God and Jesus - Mary. Mary is the Mother of all Mothers. Mary is a Mother’s Mother - who if you had any clue whatsoever, you would realize the heart of Mother Teresa reflects the heart of Mary - the heart of a Mother. Mother Teresa did MORE GOOD in the world than you could possible do in a hundred lifetimes if they were afforded you. Your comment about Mother Teresa doing more harm has made me loose all respect for you - other than the fact that you are a human being created in the image and likeness of God. I pity you and your view of the world. I pity your outlook on life and the enormous good even one act of kindness that one human being can do for another. Your comment about Mother Teresa is a spit in the eye of God Himself. I could care less about what you will say in response this post. But you will not get away with saying something like this without getting BOTH barrels of my disdain. If you have any humility whatsoever (which I highly doubt now) - you would do well to study the following poem composed by an UNKNOWN AUTHOR which was very dear to Mother Teresa’s heart. It goes -

People are unreasonable, illogical and self centered.
  • Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
  • Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
  • Succeed anyway.
The kindness you show today will be forgotten tomorrow.
  • Be kind anyway.
Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable.
  • Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be show down by the smallest person with the smallest mind.
  • Think big anyway
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
  • Build anyway
People really need help but may attack you if you try to help them.
  • Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you’ve got and you might get kicked in the teeth.
  • Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

JK,
You came loaded with double-ought rocksalt, fer shure, but caught me bending over, backside up. Next time, keep it simple. My preference is for a .223 Hornady round delivered right between my eyes by a well paid assassin. Costs about a buck and won’t leave a mess, but must be delivered by an expert. As an alternative, a .45 JHP delivered in the approximate vicinity from close range will suit me fine.

I’m sorry that you chose to take personal offense at comments undirected towards you. I gather from the sheer vituperative intensity of your comments that you did not take the time to read my explanation, or to consider for yourself the effects of M.Teresa’s actions.

Your extended range of imagined insults was not rational. You are smart enough to know better.

I did not propose that M.T. was evil, like Hitler or Stalin. Only that she caused more misery, which I attribute to the “law of unintended consequences.” I do not personally regard misery as a bad thing, having experienced rather a lot of it. But I recognize misery as something which humans do not like and, except for the courageous or stupid, prefer to avoid.

When you twist your car’s ignition key and hit the road, you do not do so with the intention of causing “global warming.” You simply want to go bowling or buy some beer. You never cogitate about the long term consequences of burning fossil fuels, no more than M.T. thought about the ratios of population densities to food supplies.

I understand that you have deep feelings for someone you’ve never met, an icon for principles that when fully implemented, will put the entire world under the thumb of a worldwide communistic dictatorship. I do not share your feelings.

When I was very, very young I had a deep devotion to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Of course, as I got older and learned some stuff, I realized that neither of them may have existed, and that I had worshiped plaster statues. I don’t regret having done so. I was controlled by my beliefs then, as you are now. It was as important to me to honor my beliefs by worship, then, as for you to do so now.

If a man cannot be true to his beliefs, what good are they?

Incidentally, to the best of my knowledge, “Mother” Teresa did not give birth to any human being, and is therefore not a mother. To put her in the same category as Mary the Mother of Jesus seems inappropriate to me.

Real poems rhyme. Or they have some quality of verbal rhythm and meter that sets their words apart from common speech. Yes, “anyway” rhymes with “anyway,” but the writer seems to have missed the point of poetry. Figures.

Curiously, I’ve been living that lousy “poem” for the last 30 years. The results are as it predicted, and your comments are right in line with those predictions.

It is true that no good deed goes unpunished. Doing good simply because something is good in and of itself and for no other reason is a source of great joy.

I mean no disrespect, but i don’t think that it would be an exaggeration to say that somebody would have to drop a nuclear bomb on your head just to make a scratch!! Your hardheadedness is world renowned.👍

{Times New Roman"]nuclear bomb on your head just to make a scratch!! Your hardheadedness is world renowned.👍
That would do just fine. However, I suggested smaller and more precisely directed projectiles as a way of making a finer point, with reduced environmental impact, but at the cost of individual responsibility on the part of whoever pulls the trigger. I might have realized that this point was certain to be lost on the occasional poster who is just learning what “critical thinking” is.

I regard individuals who say that they “mean no disrespect” while proposing to terminate me because they disagree with me, with considerable collateral damage to adjacent people who do not even know me, as simpleminded and untrustworthy hypocrites.

But, I certainly respect them. I also respect cockroaches, which play a vital part in our planet’s ecology. (Exactly which part I don’t know, but I am open to enlightenment on the subject.) I freely stomp cockroaches and similar critters who intrude upon my space, because, with all due respect, I regard them as disgusting insects.

I have complete respect for those who have the personal integrity to say that they do not like me, definitely disrespect me, regard my ideas as bunk, and then proceed to insult me. I prefer conversations with honest people.

Thank you for the appraisal of my fame. I was unaware of it.

Although my ideas have been exposed to philosophy students as far away as Singapore (lucky kids) I’d not known that the consistency with which I present these ideas has spread farther than my front porch.

It is true that no good deed goes unpunished. Doing good simply because something is good in and of itself and for no other reason is a source of great joy.
Yes, of course. I’m certain that M.T. felt great joy every time she assured the propagation of another half million people who, without her advocacy, would not have been born.

I wonder how the men born thanks to M.T.'s intercessions enjoyed watching their wives raped and their children slaughtered, their animals taken and their property pillaged by others in need of sustenance and entertainment. Or, how the women enjoyed being raped, and the children enjoyed being slaughtered. No doubt her joy suffused them all during these experiences.

And, why am I using past tense verbs? These evils are ongoing and perpetuating.

I hope that “Mother” Teresa received enough personal joy to justify the experiences of those who suffered the consequences of her good works. Personally, I’d as soon not have to work off the cost of so much personal “joy” my next time around.

There is some evidence for reincarnation. With luck and justice, you and M.T. will be returned to one of the overpopulated, Islam ruled environments which she created, to get a start on working off the joy she received for doing so.

Greylorn, In case the central point I was trying to make be lost in the midst of this food fight, you insulted my Mother - and thus you INSULTED me by your comments about her. I speak on behalf of all Mothers whose hearts are moved with great empathy by the suffering of her children. The reason I still bother with you Greylorn is that I know I have not had to walk a mile or even an inch in your shoes. For all I know I could be a hundred times more thickheaded and hard hearted had I been dealt the hand you were given. Second, you should understand that I personally come from a very wounded place given the cards I was dealt and I know with all my heart God has been very good to me. If God can reach someone like me, He can certainly do the same for you. If you have any understanding of what a locution is, then you will know what has turned my life upside down and most importanty most deeply touched and changed my heart. I know in my bones this simple truth that will and can never change. The simple truth is - ONLY GOD HAS TO BE. Moving concentrically out from this central truth is the truth that God is completely OTHER than His creation. To be continued …

Continued … What I am sharing with you does not come from books or indoctrination. It comes from personal experience and specifically a locution I had back in 1976. What is better if I wanted to learn about the Grand Canyon - to study about it in books or to personally go there myself - to see and experience it for myself? I have personally been to the land of Grace. I understand Grace not as someone looking from the outside looking in, but rather as one who was given an inside experience and now looking out. Only God HAS TO BE and nothing else. God could have continued IN BEING fir all eternity without ever creating anything or anyone. God and His creation are completely and totally OTHER from each other. One HAS TO BE and the other NEED NOT BE. The universe need not be or continue and even if it did cease, it would not lessen or detract from God whatsoever. Your science project and premise about God is completely and utterly FALSE from the getgo. It is an exercise in futility. Imagine spending a lifetime building a sand castle only to have one wave wash over it and leave no traces. I can assure you that this will happen to your science project about God. Grace is what it is all about. God has been very good to me and for that reason alone I do not give up on you nor put myself above you. I will never be you or coinversely and you must come to your own personal conviction about truth. There is only ONE truth and I sincerely pray and hope your path will lead you to HIM.

Scientists claim that the universe is made up of 70% of “Dark Matters”, which its components remain a myth.

  1. *]“Vacuum” occupied space.
*]“Nothing” is a term describing non-existence and it does not require any space.

Conclusion: Physical presence always takes the lead.
    Imaginations let us travel.
Minds can be “vacuum”. They are being generated by our brains.
Your minds may have “nothing” inside. It is a concept.
We have philosophy of science in the past. It is a branch to understand our outside world (reality). Nowadays, science is advanced enough for us to understand the true presence of the “God” in all religions. The traditional concept of the God derived from the physical differences. The progresses in whole-cell biology allow us to explore the true presence of the God (including the Catholic). Compare the Earth with a mother cell. It is a completely new form of metaphysics. Assume the Earth is a conscious living being. Lives have hierarchies. A higher level of lives gives birth to the lower ones. The burning of substances (correspond to the human consumptions of resources on this planet) is a rearing behavior. Meanwhile, the reproduction carried out inside a living thing of this Supreme Being (the God) is similar to metabolism carried out inside every single cell. Then all lives share similarities from the microscopic scale into our whole universe. This is a complete new set of theories linking up everything in our universe. Natural rules are the rules for everything. The concept of creation of the Earth (i.e. Birth) is already one of the concepts of living things. Lives are lives in different levels.
