Here is another difference between Catholic teaching and the Bible:
According to Catholic teaching if, with full knowledge and consent, you eat a hot dog on a Friday of Lent, or a day of abstinence, you have committed a mortal sin and if unrepented you will go to hell. So the hot dog which has entered into your mouth has defiled you and prepared you for your eternal damnation. On the other hand, there is no condemnation of the novels of Father Greeley, where the characters have all kinds of swearing and cursing coming out of their mouths. Father Greeley is a priest in good standing in the Catholic Church and has been praised by Church leaders, such as for example, Cardinal Mahony. So this is a difference between Catholic teaching and the teaching of the Bible which says:
“Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man: but what cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.”
or in the basic English version:
" Not that which goes into the mouth makes a man unclean, but that which comes out of the mouth."
Matthew 15:11.
