Authority is also a matter of faith. One has to have sufficient faith in one’s belly button…

But let me ask you…if I have an “outy”, is my faith more truth than your’s if you have an “inny”?

What you are saying, CMatt, is that we cannot “truly know” the truth in this life.

For you theory to be true, it would have to mean that Jesus was a liar, or a weakling. If He did not lead His Church into “all Truth” as He promised then He could not, or would not, keep His word.

You are saying that the powerful Jesus who we see in Revelation guiding and disciplining the Church “disappeared” at some point, and the failings of man became stronger than the power of God to reveal Himself.

Yes, and if you are a moral relativist, then there is one truth one day, and a different one for the next, or it varies from person to person.

Such navel acrobatics enable some people to have an “inny” on one day, and an “outie” the next.

Thank you my brother. I welcome trials for this reason. That is what they are designed to do. I think only the Catholics understand what suffering and hardship are supposed to accomplish. It makes them much easier to bear.
