I work in the largest Baptist church in America. Every day I witness Catholics leaving the Church due to baptist convincing them they are not saved due to infant baptism and convincing them there are no needs for the sacraments especially confessing sins to a priest. This is heresy. This is my cross that I carry every day and I thank God for it. Come with me to a baptist church and witness the heresies and then tell me if you still hold to what you stated. If you do not believe me what I have posted I challenge you to contact a local baptist church and ask him if what I am stating is true. You will find in his own church half of his own members are fallin’ away Catholics. Does this sit O.K. with you? it does not sit well for me. Please let us stop the “American let us be politically correct buisness” St Paul would have never allowed a Catholic Church to accept this behavior and if I can not convince you read his 1st letter to the Corinthians carefully and you will notice I am in harmony with his emotions and conscerns.

Peace of Jesus Christ be with you
You said that you work at the largest Baptist Church in America. My question is if you do not like it why do you keep working there. You must be miserable while you are at work.
And why is it that a Baptist Church has hired a Catholic to work in there Church. 🤷

adwocday, I think you’ve hit on one of the problems with Baptists doing evangelism work- inadequate theological training. While praying a sinner’s prayer is one way to express one’s faith in Christ, merely repeating words won’t save you.

To the person who asked if the SBC is representative of all Baptists, no the SBC is not.

as someone who has recently started looking into and learning about christianity from both sides of the spectrum both catholic and protestant, all i can say is “wow”… what a mess

How did this happen?? nevermind, i’m sure there’s a thread somewhere which explains the protestant reformation in glorified detail. but i can surely say I myself am a victim of the differences between the different faiths. It just breaks my heart to see a total misinterpretation of the historically timeless catholic doctrine that results in the senseless targeting of the catholic church. Not to mention the resulting mixed interpratations of “salvation”, which happens to be the ultimate goal which every religious person in this world always bears in mind and strives for throughout their life in some way fashion or form.

Mhm, yes. That is quite amusing. Let me see if I can print it out and i’ll be sure to use it next time I run out of arguments and become somewhat incapable of proving myself to be remotely intelligent. Thanks again. 👍👍

Maybe that person has great administrative skills. I know Presbyterians that work at the Catholic diocese Accounting office. Its not that big a deal. And I’ve actually discussed what certain baptist do believe. It depends what spectrum of baptist you’re talking about. You have the SBC which is the largest coalition of baptist churches (not really denomination because all baptist churches are independent but allied in basic beliefs and funding for missions work etc.) to free will baptist to strongly fundalmentalist independent baptist churches. There are several things that all baptist believe in Scriptures alone and Faith alone. All believe the bible is the inerrant word of God. All believe that one is “saved” when they confess their sins and turn their heart to God. Now the details of justification, predestination, etc become a little more complicated. All hold that baptism is an ordenance (rather than sacrament) and must be done as a believer by full immersion out of obediance showing the symbolic death to our sin and resurrection as a new person. Baptism doesn’t do what it represents such as in the sacrament but is symbolic of something that has already occured. Baptist re-baptize catholics because the first baptism a Catholic had was not a “believers” baptism. It was done while the child is incapable of deciding to “follow” Jesus themselves. Most baptist believe in the age of accountability. After which point a person is accountable for their sin and must pay the full judgement of that sin. Most baptist I’ve encountered hold to TULIP which is based on Calvins Institutes Total depravity, Unconditional election, Limited atonement, Irristable grace, Perserverance of the saints. Though not all hold this strict doctrine. Often SBC pastors have been held in contempt by the more fundalmentalist independent churches for being too “liberal” in their theology. Many believe in a literal translation of the creation account yet a non literal view of the eucharist. Many believe that the Catholic church has a strangle hold on historical data which is inaccurate and believe in the pamphlet the “trail of Blood”. They believe that there is not one church (though some believe in a single invisible church but not all) but many independent churches. Now that I’ve spelled out some of their doctrine and beliefs you understand that Catholics know a little about baptist. And we can debate on all these points. And yes there are baptist churches that have actively recruited Catholics because they believe Catholics aren’t Saved.

Please read my post above. The same can be said of Catholics.

“And yes there are baptist churches that have actively recruited Catholics because they believe Catholics aren’t Saved.”

That’s the biggest issue. It’s not enough to disagree about points of doctrine and practice. Baptists insist that Catholics are non-Christians condemned to eternal damnation. So there is no basis for dialogue with Baptists, really, as there is with Anglicans/Episcopals, Lutherans, and many other Christian denominations with whom Catholics have ongoing discussions to clarify areas of agreement or disagreement. Catholics are damned, just as surely as Hindus, Buddhists, animists, etc. In my experience, it doesn’t matter if you explain that you believe in Jesus, that you rely on his merits for salvation and not on your own good deeds; that you have been baptized as an infant and renew your baptism (with water no less), at least once annually, and generally several times annually; that you read the scriptures daily; that you witness to your faith whenever the opportunity presents itself; that you pray daily; that you serve according to your spiritual gifts; that you seek to grow in holiness by imitating Christ; etc., etc. It doesn’t matter that you have fulfilled every mark of a true believer. If you’re a Catholic, you are a non-Christian and damned to hell. Many Baptists will admit of the theoretical possibility that certain individual Catholics (a small minority) may be Christians, but practically speaking, they are very reluctant to admit that any particular Catholic is Christian who remains a faithful Catholic. I’m speaking from experience, folks.

thats sounds pretty harsh. that would mean that about 80% of the world is condemned to eternal damnation. it amazes how much scare tactics are utilized for an otherwise peaceful and loving purpose of getting to know God.

I too speak from experience and I concur.

Yes and they quote this scripture verse to show they are right: Matthew 7:13
13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.

I work with a Baptist lady at a Catholic monastery, she is very happy working here and the Brothers hired her because they would not deny employment to someone based on their religion alone which is against the law any ways. I also have Bible study with two Baptist friends, no mayor differences in Bible interpretation so far but I know for a fact that at least one of them believes he is saved and can’t lose is salvation not that he is a bad person but I don’t agree with him.

That’s for a reason, it is one of the better known spoof websites on religion.
Here is what this website is about from wikipedia.org

The Landover Baptist Church is a fictional[1] Baptist church based in the fictional town of Freehold, Iowa. The Landover Baptist web site and its associated Landoverbaptist.net Forum are a parody of fundamentalist Christianity and the Religious Right in the United States.

The site was created by Chris Harper,[2] who obtained his Master’s Degree in English Literature from George Mason University in 1993 after being expelled from Liberty University in 1989 for producing a satirical radio show which Liberty’s administration found offensive.[3] The site is owned by a company called Americhrist, Ltd.

I know what the people on the forum are a bit, eh, vile and deranged. They fervently deny that their false church is indeed fictional and call themselves True Christians trademark. They say that the Baptist religion was created before the Holy Catholic Church was.

You do realize that website is a joke, right?

The site is a joke. Yet maybe not far from the truth. Have any of you dealt with Landmarkist Bapitist? Quite honestly they hold that the Catholic church is the whore of Bablyon. (I’ve been given the Two Babylons to read) They believe they are following the teachings of the Apostles and that the CC went of during Constantine and that you can see the “devils influence” with the writings of Ignatius and Clement and Justin.
