In our seminary, dinner begins at 6 PM and they say the Angelus as a grace. The guys take turns leadings and some of them add additional thanksgivings after the Angelus.

Personally, I think the same prayer becomes prefunctionary and therefore, the meaning can be lost. How often do you say the same thing, allowing your thoughts to wander because you know the words so well. Try a little spice, the idea is to give thanks acknowledging our Creator. Our family likes, “Our hands we fold, our heads we bow, for good and drink, we thank Thee now!” Thanks and gratitude is the reason, just as long as we do it!

Tell that to the angels in heaven in Revelation who day and night never cease praising God by saying ‘Holy Holy Holy …’.

You think they ever become perfunctory? Heck, how many thousands of times does someone say ‘I love you’ to their spouse or children, do you think it ever becomes perfunctory merely because it’s repeated frequently?
