Responding to a ban on the wearing of rosaries at a Colorado public school, the Diocese of Colorado Springs has said it does not oppose the action because it recognizes the need to protect children. Local gangs have reportedly decided to wear rosaries as jewelry as a sign of gang affiliation

I don’t think rosaries should be used as jewellery by anyone, since they are meant for prayer, not display. It’s much better to pray one than to wear one!
 
I agree. Rosaries, while beautiful, should not be worn as jewelry. Some things must be kept sacred.

My parents live in a city that is known for gang violence. We had heard there of this gang affiliation with wearing a Rosary around the neck. It’s sad to take something so beautiful and turn it to represent violence.

Our Lady, Queen of the most holy Rosary, pray for us.
