Yes it was. However, it’s probably a smart legal move.It was quite shocking to open our church bulletin this Sunday and read the bishop’s letter. Very sad in so many ways.

The average sexual abuse lawsuit settlement in California these days is around $1.5 million. There are pending lawsuits filed by 143 plaintiffs. The math simply doesn’t work.
