Merciful God and Father, forgive us the many times we fail to place our faith and trust in You to provide vocations for the service of Your Kingdom. Strengthen us to rely on Your gracious love to supply our every need, both temporal and spiritual.

After a fair bit of heart searching and finally depending on common sense and prudence, I have decided not to go ahead with a discerning process into the Servants of The Sacred Cross.
I feel that my illness (Bipolar) and the problems it can present, even though it has seemed totally absent for years now, preclude entering the SSC. Though my illness has been completely silent for years, I have to face up to the fact that this does not necessarily mean it is not present as dormant now, yet may assert itself at some future date. On the other hand, it may not and chances are it never will. And there is no way of real knowing either way at this point. This is the second time, I have tried to reason through problems that may present and preclude my entering the SSC and I feel I must put this matter “to bed” for good and it is with a heavy heart that I do.
I treasure the religious habit and the lifestyle of religious themselves and indeed The Church and the SSC to run the risk of any or all of these being perhaps called into question in some way and perhaps due to an episode of Bipolar in me and Bipolar episodes can be totally unpredictable in every way…so with a heavy heart but with Peace in God’s Will I have decided against entering the SSC.
I thank every one of you for your prayers, which undoubtedly have helped me in arriving at what I feel is probably the best decision. I have longed all my life to enter religious life and the one obstacle at this later point in my life, continues to be Bipolar and my decision is to keep myself (Grace prevailing) in solidarity with all who do suffer in some way and/or perhaps for some reason unable to follow their heart’s desire. May The Lord keep me faithful as I ever relentlessly search for some way over the obstacle of Bipolar.
Thank you very much for the prayers again.

Blessings and Joyous Easter…Barb:)

Lord, you have led Barbara through her life with your Guidance and wisdom. May Your Will continue to be done in this and all matters. Please watch over Barbara, and continue to guide and direct her in all of her daily life. Be it Your Will, aid her in bringing closure to her Bipolar Disorder, and relieve the worries that it causes her.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day, our Daily Bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Amen.

BarbaraTherese,
The Lord needs intensely faithful laity to assure His purpose on earth is accomplished. He needs selfless, devoted, and loving hearts to further the Word. We would miss you terribly, as you also strengthen and fortify us, with your prayers and soothing, encouraging words. Discernment is a sometimes gut-wrenching process, and the Lord will reward you for having submitted to it. Christ’s peace, and a most blessed Easter Season, Sister!

Thank you to you and to all who have acknowledged my last Post and who said a prayer for my discerning process. “Gut wrenching” is a quite good description…seems all my life there have been obstacles to religious life and at times - not always - hard to accept that I am where The Lord wants me, right here. But then I guess we all can suffer from time to time “the grass is greener” syndrome;) . You are very right I think, there is a place for we lay people who remain single and a work to be accomplished …Blessings this Easter…Barb:)

Praying very hard for your intentions, Barb. May the Holy Spirit guide you!

barbara…I hear and feel your pain even if you are at peace right now. My prayers continue to be with you. I sense you may have a much higher vocation…one that is a victim soul. May He, the Crucified One, embrace you closely to His most Sacred Heart.
