After the Holy Father lifted the excommunications of the four FSSPX Bishops consecrated by Archbishop Lefebvre, I remember reading that talks would take place between Rome and the SSPX on doctrinal issues. However, I haven’t heard anything more about these talks in weeks.
It has been said that the issues which prevent the FSSPX from regaining canonical approval are doctrinal, and not liturgical. The Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum solved the liturgical problem, and the lifting of the excommunications was a gesture of loving mercy by the Pope. The only thing that remains is for the discussions between the FSSPX and Rome to take place. I wonder what these discussions will be about? And is it possible to predict their outcome?
Many of you have studied the SSPX situation for years. Based on your studies, what do you think are the main issues that will be addressed during these talks?
