Yeah. In all seriousness I think people on both sides sometimes look pretty silly. The conversations attacks against Disney for the “gay scene” is a good example on our side (if you haven’t already be sure to read the thread about Russia’s wise decision on the matter) … rather than offer an example for the other side let me just say # Complaints About “Heteronormativity”.When will this ever end? To put the rhetorical question seriously and jokingly. haha![]()
He was willing to, wasn’t he? Belle tricked him into thinking she was just coming into the cell to say goodbye, and then shoved him out and bolted herself in.
- The dad was flat out cowardly. All my children picked up on that. They had not idea how a dad would not give his life for his daughter.
I have to agree.
Sure she tricked him. But only to be in a cage she didn’t have to stay in. Also, later in the movie he expertly picked a lock when they were in the insane asylum cart. Then, after being tricked, he left, supposedly to get help and do exactly what the coward gaston ended up doing in the end, inciting the villagers to hunt the beast. When that doesn’t work he goes with gaston whom he hid behind to try to rescue his daughter. He was willing to, wasn’t he? I may be missing something, I went to the bathroom a few times.
I hope your migraine is better and not a common occurrence for you, I’ve had themOk here’s my review, took all my kids to it.
It was done incredibly well. It stayed true to the original animated movie.
My girls loved it. I would have liked it more if I didn’t have a raging migraine with severe light sensitivity
BUT…
It was WAY “gayer” than I thought. I think people were expecting 1 standout scene because of the hype. Nope. It was a whole character, several inuendos, but two scenes in particular. The first royal ball scene was very moulin rouge. Lots of costuming that appeals to a fashion/ gay crowd. Same with the final scene.

He couldn’t pick the lock of the tower cell because he didn’t have Belle’s hairpin on him.Sure she tricked him. But only to be in a cage she didn’t have to stay in. Come to think of it it didn’t make sense when belle, seeing her father in trouble, abandons the castle apparently now unconcerned with the wolves that almost killed her before…
You were misinformed. Cinderella sings at least once in the movie. But it is a folk song not a song from the animated film. The closing credits do use the actors singing two fo the songs from the original.I hope your migraine is better and not a common occurrence for you, I’ve had them
occasionally, not fun.
I disagree that the first scene was “gay” unless you mean the original meaning of gay like happy. It was fabulous, yes. But fabulous doesn’t equal homosexual.
I think it was supposed to be a prince having a ball with ladies, sort of like the Cinderella prince. But the Beast Prince was I guess a bit of a lech, so he had just women at his party.
I went with my sister and daughter. My DH and sons didn’t want to come. My youngest might be too young for it.
Overall, I liked the cartoon better.
And I’m glad I haven’t seen the Cinderella live action. I was informed there was no singing. Cinderella was my favorite as a girl. I loved the songs.
They rated it L?! Well, I’m never relying on CNS for reviews.
I actually think it should have been rated higher too, but not for “gayness”. I thought the violent scenes were really too graphic for young children, particularly the shooting at the end. They rated it L?! Well, I’m never relying on CNS for reviews.
I actually generally find IMDB parental reviews pretty good. Very matter of fact.
Oh, good to know. You were misinformed. Cinderella sings at least once in the movie. But it is a folk song not a song from the animated film. The closing credits do use the actors singing two fo the songs from the original.
I literally just choked back the food I’m eating in an attempt not to spray it onto my computer while laughing. “Lots of costuming that appeals to a fashion/ gay crowd.” Yeah, or to the French for several centuries. Or to straight men and women interested in fashion, costuming, or film production. Or to any child who’s read a fairy tale picture book.BUT…

What, you didn’t know costuming is one of the seven deadly sins?I literally just choked back the food I’m eating in an attempt not to spray it onto my computer while laughing. “Lots of costuming that appeals to a fashion/ gay crowd.” Yeah, or to the French for several centuries.
