You’re right, an infinite God would surely get tired with someone after almost a hundred years. That makes sense.
The point is that it is you who would get tired, or stuck in a rut, after all that time. How many 80 year olds do you know who are still trying to decide which career to follow, or what school to attend? Different kinds of decisions have their different seasons. The decision to follow Jesus is one that you make before you die (and in most cases, before you reach the age of seven), or that you never make at all.
I’m asking how it makes any sense for a loving God to define death that way. You’ve said that it makes sense for God to give people some time and then leave them. No, it doesn’t. Not for an infinite being.
You make it sound like God just invented death on a whim, or that God is some kind of magical being that can cause things to exist or not exist, totally at random, and out of relationship with everything else.
Yes, God is the Creator, but the Creation has rules. The rules aren’t just “made up” by God willy-nilly, out of nowhere - they are the rules that by default came into play when God created things a certain way.
Same as if you paint with acrylic, once you put the paint out on the palette, you don’t get to wait around all day deciding what colour to make the background - acrylic dries in five minutes - either on the palette, or on the canvas - your choice.
Death is the opposite of life. God created life, because life is good. Death is the opposite of life; it’s not a separate created thing. God didn’t create it - it only “exists” (it is the state of the non-existence of life) because life exists. Without life, there cannot be death. There could have been life without death, but Adam messed that one up, because he didn’t stay within the boundaries that keep the Creation from not-existing. This was not God’s fault. God didn’t just arbitrarily create death because He was on some kind of power trip to punish Adam, and get the rest of us as well. It’s just the natural and unavoidable consequence of the sin that Adam committed. Death means the end of decision making. You can’t give over your life to God, if you no longer have it to give.
