According to RealCatholic TV, an independent outside investigation has revealed that the USCCB’s Catholic Campaign for Human Development (henceforth CCHD) has been funding various anti-Catholic, pro-abortion, pro-contraceptive, pro-sodomy, and pro-prostitution organizations. This comes on top of the revelation that the corrupt Leftist ACORN received 7 million dollars from the CCHD. The CCHD raises money in a special collection after Thanksgiving every year. This is truly disturbing and quite hypocritical of the US Bishops who are at this very moment urging Congress to prohibit abortion mandates in the Health Care bills. I think I will abstain from donating to this CCHD which the Bishops seem to have no control over and perhaps hand over control to liberal lay staff. It’s better to donate directly to truly good charitable organizations.

There was an article in the “Catholic World Report” on this some years ago. After I sent the article to my parish priest, he stopped the parish collection parishes have every year for the Campaign for Human Development…
The ideologies of the organizations that they fund are not right out in the open, but a little investigation shows what some of them are like. There has been a recent scandal of this sort too in Canada. Money raised in parishes in Canada has been going to groups that promote abortion in Peru. This has stirred up things among the Canadian bishops and Catholics, some denying this has happened, some withdrawing support for this.

I can’t believe this is done on purpose. But I can’t believe the Bishops would not do their homework on this kind of stuff either.🤷

Perhaps the bishops are not greatly to blame. They have a large organization in Washington, D.D. which runs the Catholic Conference activities on a day to day basis without their presence. I presume that this situation is largely due to liberals in their bureaucracy. The bishops are in Washington only a few days a year, so that if they are not careful their bureaucracy could get out of control in some ways. Several decades ago their Conference committees kept putting out endless position statements on the issues of the day, not written by the bishops, but instead by their bureaucracy, until finally the bishops put a stop to this some years ago. I presume things got out of control in such a way when it came to the Canadian bishops conference, and its funding of abortion groups in Peru.

Most likely the bishops were not directly involved in it. It was probably the bureaucracy as “mdgspencer” said. It could also be that those bureaucrats responsible did not know about those organizations’ radical positions and connections. It is still unacceptable negligence on their part. Whether it was intentional or unintentional, I’m not sure. These days you have to be cautious about secular charities like that since you do not know what they might be supporting with your donation. You have to do research on them first before donating.

[Mat 7:16] By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

This is really the scary part. What are the fruits of this USCCB and the CCHD?
  1. Propagation of Abortion.
  2. Propagation of Homesexual agenda.
  3. Propagation of Obama and the Left.
  4. Propagation of Notre Dame - Fr. Jenkins.

And this is not just in the past few months. This has been going on for years. It isn’t just Acorn either. It seems that we expose one organization, then others crop up, time after time.

Do they ever come out and chastise Fr. Jenkins? Or do they allow this tragedy to continue on and on and on.

When in the world will the USCCB ever learn? Since they refuse to learn, time after time, one can only assume that there is an agenda.

And last years fiasco about electing Obama. The USCCB planted phrases in their documents, that allowed support for OBama. I can’t tell you how many Catholics I know of who read that document and still supported “Pro_abort” candidates because of the way the document was worded.

Again if we look at it strictly without emotion and based on history and facts, and the bible. You come up with this.

[Mat 7:16] By their fruits you will know them.

Very Unfortunate. I propose that we just eliminate the USCCB and get it direct from the Vatican instead. Let the Vatican rule, not this “Conference” thingy.

I do not think the bishops did this on purpose, nor do I think they purposely allowed support for Obama or have some sort of “agenda” as someone put it. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt, and pray that this gets fixed.

Are any other news sources reporting on this? I’m just curious as to whether…“real” news sources are covered this issue. Not that I’m saying it’s not possible or this hasn’t happened, I just would like to read other sources on this. I went to the blog that the YouTube video has a link to, and it doesn’t have any documentation or proof that the USCCB subgroup actually did this. It just discusses what these groups apparently support.

The Canadian Bishops Conference has been caught funding non-Catholic organizations too. What these incidents reveal is that we need to respect the office, but not offer blind obedience to our bishops. They are mortal too and vulnerable to sin and mistakes just as the laity. Bishops were wrong to sell indulgences to pay for St.Peter’s and Martin Luther was right to call them on it. Bishops were wrong to change our Mass and force “reforms” like Communion In The Hand along with other liturgical abuses.

Also, the Bellarmine Veritas Ministry report does give ample documentation. see: bellarmineveritasministry.org/campaigns/cchd/

I doubt most of the bishops were aware of what was going on, though perhaps they can be faulted for not taking the time to do more oversight.
An article on this misuse of Catholic donations by the Campaign for Human Development was published in “Catholic World Report” 10 years or so ago. However, this article is not on the internet. If anyone does have access to older issues of this magagine, I will be happy to identify the location of this article if they want.

I have been troubled by the USCCB for some time now. Harry Forbes, the Director of the USCCB Office for Film and Broadcasting praised “Brokeback Mountain”, the film which seems to promote homosexuality. The USCCB gives money to groups that support abortion, homosexual marriage and to radical groups like ACORN. There are some good Bishops that stand up for the teachings of Jesus Christ, and then there are others who I dare not say where I think they stand. The Holy Father should conduct an apostolic visitation (investigation) of the USCCB.
