So my Monastic Diurnal has arrived from St. Michael’s in England
. Only problem, I am at a loss for how to follow it! Any help would be appreciated haha.
Abbot Cuthbert of St Michael’s suggested the very same place. Does not appear that there is a “St Joseph’s Guide” for the MD, although I will keep looking and keep you posted if I find one.I ordered my Monastic Diurnal three days ago but it has not yet arrived.
For an introduction and tutorial begin here:

Best regards.

My Monastic Diurnal has not yet arrived.Thank you. Have you received your Diurnal? I suggest those websites as well, I have found them helpful so far.
Not all of them. If you look at an example office, it says after some “Glory be not said”Ok so I have some questions.
- Is the Glory Be said at the end of all Psalms and Canticles?
newadvent.org/cathen/06043a.htm
- What exactly is a Feria?
Unless otherwise indicated (such as the long canticle of the Three Children at Sunday Lauds)Ok so I have some questions.

A day.

Very cool. Thank you!Unless otherwise indicated (such as the long canticle of the Three Children at Sunday Lauds)
A day.
Dominica = Sunday
Feria 2 = Monday
Feria 3 = Tuesday
Feria 4 = Wed.
Feria 5 = Thurs
Feria 6 = Fri.
Sabbato = Saturday
Also used to designate a regular weekday without feasts.
Thanks! Keep the advice comingJust remembered another one which is pertinent to the Monastic Diurnal:
At Lauds, after the O.T. canticle, psalms 148, 149 and 150 are said under a single antiphon and Gloria Patri (at the end of 150).
I’m trying to think of others, believe Ps. 115 and 116 is like that at Vespers as well as Ps. 116 is very short.
Thanks. Not “advice” per se but a bit of history.Thanks! Keep the advice coming![]()
