Divine Mercy Chaplet

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if it’s appropriate to “make a big(ger) deal” of praying the Divine Mercy chaplet during Lent. I want to ask our pastor if I could lead the chaplet after Sunday masses . . . Is it fitting, to prepare the congregation for the crucifixion? Or not particularly?

Usually there’s rosary after mass but ask your pastor about it. 🙂
That’s a very good idea and appropriate for Lent.
 
Something else to consider would be to offer the chaplet of Divine Mercy before mass, since at the conclusion of mass, we are “sent.” And, Mercy Himself is made present at the mass. Just a thought.
 
Most of the churches here are big on the Stations of the Cross during Lent after the masses.
 
We have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Fridays, for 24 hours, and during Lent the Divine Mercy Chaplet is said during Adoration at 12 noon and 6 pm on Fridays.
 
My parish offers the Divine Mercy Chaplet on Friday afternoon, after the noon Mass (especially during Lent.) That is in addition to offering Stations of the Cross on Fridays.
 
You could ask, certainly - just don’t be offended if the priest says “no,” because many priests (rightly, I believe) are concerned about making sure people can have silent time to do their own praying and devotions before or after mass.

The Divine Mercy chaplet - what a great thing, though, and especially in Lent!
