It seems that Pope Francis senses an urgency about proclaiming divine mercy as did St John Paul II. With a growing persecution of Christianity around the world, of which Francis referred yesterday, and a previous mention last year about the special time of mercy we have been in for “30 years”, we could ask ourselves what this means in terms of salvation history and our era. Perhaps one aspect of the message of Saint Faustina that is kept a little quiet is that which relates to the second coming of Jesus. Stephen Walford, in his book “Heralds of the Second Coming” (forward by Cardinal Ivan Dias) relates a quote from the Diary of Blessed Michael Sopocko in which St. Faustina, on her death bed told him that he must do everything to spread this devotion because “the world will not exist much longer and God still wants to give graces to people before the end”
Perhaps it is this sense of urgency that the Holy Spirit has instilled in the recent popes (as is shown in this book) that should urge us to invoke the great mercy of God now more than ever.

Interesting. Very annoyed you linked that book above as i just had to buy it!!! lol 😃 👍

This has also been in my thoughts since the announcement of the Bull. Why the year of Mercy exactly now? Pope Francis does not have a “doom and gloom” style of preaching.

What should we think about all of these things, considered together, in this time:

Timing of this Jubilee
Message - Divine Mercy, the Message for the End Times
The 100 year anniversary of Fatima
Approved Marian apparitions (Akita, Lourdes and others) and the uniformity of their message of the urgency for conversion.
Private revelations like Medjugorje in which Our Blessed Mother’s message mirrors that of Fatima
Growing intolerance of Church teachings
Slander of religious and faithful
Threats against the life of our Pope (especially considering Fatima’s message)
Comments by recent Popes regarding end times
Efforts within and outside the Church to change / undermine doctrine
Attacks on churches, holy sites and the persecution of the faithful
Signs in the sky (4 blood moons on Jewish Holy days)

Can you think of anything more?

This is the first year that i have not done the Divine Mercy Novena and not attended Divine Mercy Sunday!!

I feel so mixed up by it all to be honest! Yes, i believe God is full of Mercy and Love but as for private revelations i have stood back from that. I want to concentrate on GOD! I want my mind to be full of GOD alone. Strange i know but this is how ‘I’ feel at this moment in time.

Divine Mercy is about people realizing that nothing is beyond God’s forgiveness and mercy is we but ask.
Doesn’t anyone believe the world is in need of mercy?
The Divine Mercy devotion is much more than one reference to the end times.
I think Pope Francis is trying to reach out to those who feel the rejected.

Do you think he (Pope) knows something?

😉
I’m quite certain he knows much more than any of us, 🙂 but he for sure doesn’t know when the world will end. That’s been made clear in the Scriptures. 👍

Good point about the end of the world bit but does it feel there is a bit of urgency these days?
