Divorced & Abandoned after 30 Years

Tuscany, I thank you for that beautiful prayer and it encompasses everything in life we
should be concerned with. I now realize that since I have opened my heart and shared,
many, many people are there to support me. Others (who do not wish me well &
do not know behind the scenes) have judged my decisions unfairly. My pastor reminds me of
this: even Christ Jesus, Our Lord, was presumed guilty and judged by his peers.
Almighty God, and He alone, knows what is lurking in our hearts, minds, and behind
closed doors.

I also lift you up in prayer. Please pray for my lawyers to instruct me in beneficial decisions.

I am so sorry for your pain. I do not get that you are using the dog as a pawn - if anything you are being extremely understanding. When I had the situation with my xh’s dog I gave him three choices at my lawyers request: 1) take the dog at that moment that he was there to pick up his belongings 2) sign permanent care and custody of the dog to me or 3) turn the dog over to the police to take to an apporpriate shelter. The police were there for my safety. It is amazing how quickly he found a place for the dog once he knew the dog could not be used to gain access to my property or violate my safety any longer.

what the court orders. Divorces are not a garden party; there are rules to be followed.
I did not follow the rules of my lawyer, and we had some repercussions. I apologized to
him and learned from it.

I am taking substantial medication and down to 95 lbs. Everyone says eat, eat, eat.
However, there were many nights I got up at 3:00 a.m. and never went back to bed. I
must take care of myself because my spouse no longer has interest in that. He willingly
chose to leave his lovely, clean home and pets, and now he has put himself in a position
where he does not have the ability to care for them.

I earnestly ask your prayers, and I bless you for your complete understanding of the
situation. This is not a soap opera – this is real life. I will pray for you at Mass in
just about an hour. God keep you safe. Thanks for your reply.

Thank you so much kaylynn. My situation has almost drawn to a close. From what I understand the first decision was sent to the court of second instance however I no longer live in the diocese where I started proceedings. I am hoping this will be done soon. Dec 6 will be my fourth wedding anniversary.

I have learned the value of redemptive suffering. I have become even closer to Him through this. I have learned more about myself. We also now have a support group on here of over 300 of his that understand. God does not cause this chaos. It is from sin and free will that this chaos and suffering ensues. Sometimes it is our own. Sometimes it is the sin of others. However God does make crooked lines straight. God bless you and thank you for your prayers.

joanofarc - my case is not as far as yours and Lord knows when the decree will be
issued. I can tell you there are many extenuating circumstances, too many to mention
here that would cause them to invalidate the marriage.

I thank God that you are finalizing and feeling hopeful. I know, that I too, will get to that
time and space at God’s design. I totally, totally, trust in Him. I am not in control of this
situation right now. That does not mean I will never have the answers I so badly want
some day. All at God’s timetable… Have a blessed Advent and Christmas, dear.

Dear Groo and Abysinnia:

I thank you for your kind response of prayer!! I woke up to that plus the great news that
Notre Dame went 12-0 last night. Yes, Groo I have an extremely close church family. I
serve as a lector, Eucharistic Minister and sacristan. I also see them in a social context
and my friends in the Bereavement group call me often. They were all truly sent to me by the dear Lord.

This makes my family up north extremely relieved that I can reach friends at a moment’s
notice. I am certainly not complaining because God has not forgotten His servant.
I have a special rosary from Ireland that is my constant companion - a gift from my pastor.
Bless you for remembering me.

I thank you, Tuscany, for all your heartfelt and meaningful prayer. A brief court hearing
was canceled last week because my attorney took awfully sick with flu. This would have
been “key” to setting up the beginning of mediation, but was not meant to be. The
entire case, as of now, is in a holding pattern. The petitioner has decided to settle in for
a protracted battle. I was hoping it would not go this direction. It has been over a one and
one-half yrs. since I have seen any family, and because my attorney could need me at any moment, I won’t be able to join them for any holidays. I feel badly because of all the pain that radiates out to family, friends and my parishioners. I so long to give them good and hopeful news. The Lord is asking me to stand watch and wait.

The deacon from my Church will be calling me this afternoon to encourage and pray with
me. I would ask all Prayer Warriors for their prayers in order that this ugly ending to a 30 yr.marriage would reverse and a small baby step towards conciliation and fairness would
prevail. God bless all of you who have contacted me so faithfully.

90 Domer: I am so happy you replied! I have been to ND many times for games: GA
Tech, Navy, Pitt…when I was just a school girl we toured the campus, and I made my
mind up that this was the most beautiful campus I had ever seen. Plus, it had an “aura”
like I had never felt. Even my Florida car has a Fighting Irish plate. My pastor, who is
100% Irish and a very close friend just took out American citizenship. So the Irish come full circle with me.

Anyway, the Irish have taken the edge off a shocking and demoralizing end to a marriage.
They have given me “hope” when each week I thought I would not make it; they somehow
found a way, and I did, too. Your thoughts and prayers mean so much to me and all
the other subway alumni. God bless you always.

Tuscany: I want to thank you for your faithful prayers. This means more to me than any
material possession. I have a placque in my kitchen that says: Do not Take Life so
Seriously — It is not Permanent!" That helps me keep things in perspective. I realize that
my ultimate goal is beyond earth.

I had a little setback this week, we cannot start mediation in the courts because the
docket is so crammed with divorce hearings. Isn’t this the saddest thing to hear at this holy time of year? It may be as late as January 30 before we even BEGIN to start a negotiation about distributing assets. I have no idea whether my husband who is plaintiff
will receive suggestions about splitting his money. I pray he is rational, and does the right thing. I have not discounted the fact that there may be “drama” ahead. With the grace of Almighty God and his Virgin Mother, I ask we all remain calm and business- like. I have no idea what to expect.

Know that I appreciate you and all the wonderful Prayer Warriors interceding for all the many souls at CAF. Have a most blessed day.

Daisybee, thank you for including me in your fervent prayer. I was just informed last week
by my attorney’s office that a first mediation hearing has been scheduled for January 18.
That month seems like an ERA to me. This will be the first opportunity for me to meet with
my spouse in five months. Because of his stubbornness and anger, I am not anticipating
complete success. I want to be calm. I pray the Holy Spirit works in me to keep rational
and composed. The last thing the process needs at this point is any more drama. I have
so welcomed all your thoughts, messages and prayer. God bless all of you.
