I have read that animals can not sin, and I agree, but I’m just wondering what is the explanation for this?
thank you

Like 1ke already said, animals do not have souls so they can not sin as humans can.I would like to know more…does this mean that even when they masturbate, it’s not sinful for them to?

Everything living has a soul, that is a source of life, but except for humans, those souls are gone when life is ended.Like 1ke already said, animals do not have souls so they can not sin as humans can.

Animals have material souls and not immortal souls. When animals die, they cease to exist.Greetings Waiting,
This is not what the Church teaches. Is what you have proposed your personal belief? IF it is not, where are you getting this belief?
God Bless.

Please read more carefully. I said animals do not have spiritual souls.Everything living has a soul, that is a source of life, but except for humans, those souls are gone when life is ended.
Locomotive souls in the Aristotelian-Aquinas sensePlease read more carefully. I said animals do not have spiritual souls.
They have material souls.
Your dog and mine both my dog decided that he wanted to use my plastic statue of or lady of grace which is about 6 inches tall as a toy and I cannot get it away from him although he does lay it in my lap but the just as quickly takes it back.My dog ate my rosary once. I fell asleep praying it, and when I woke up it was all over the place. Animals don’t sin, but my dog will have to spend some time in purgatory for this one.
My cats like to knock ove our Mary statue we have on the piano. We had to move it.Your dog and mine both my dog decided that he wanted to use my plastic statue of or lady of grace which is about 6 inches tall as a toy and I cannot get it away from him although he does lay it in my lap but the just as quickly takes it back.
Animals cannot sin because they have no free will.I have read that animals can not sin, and I agree, but I’m just wondering what is the explanation for this?
thank you![]()
The Church teaching is that only humans have immortal souls. By definition that means no other creatures have immortal souls, i.e. when an animal dies their souls cease to exist.Animals cannot sin because they have no free will.
St Thomas Aquinas said that animals do not have immortal souls.Others have posted that when animals die, that is it. I will leave it to God to decide about what happens to the animals he created and loves too.
