Do any Catholics still bless their bedrooms with Holy water before retiring to bed

This is something I remember my Great Grandmother doing, she was from Ireland was a devout Catholic.

I have a bottle of holy water I was given as a gift. I have not used it at all yet. 🤷
 
My devout Catholic, Italian great-grandmother blessed her bed in the morning after she made it! 😃
 
I don’t bless my room or bed but I do make the sign of the cross with holy water when I go to bed and wake up

I often forget, but I do bless it when I’ve got some kind of problem going through my mind and I want to get a good sleep. BTW Better than counting sheep; is falling asleep saying the rosary.

Whenever we go out of town, I also bless all the windows and doors with Holy Water.

My Mexican/Spanish mother had Holy Water in a bottle but only used it when she or somebody else was ill.
 
A flyer that my church passed out, suggested that we bless the children and the children’s room with holy water after they had a nightmare. I’ve done it when the children have a hard time falling asleep or we have a hard time falling asleep, and it works! 🙂

You know you can get more for free at just about any parish. You don’t have to conserve. 😃

You can get a small holy water font and put it at the door you come in and go out of most often, and make the sign of the cross just as we do coming in to the church. When I was a little girl, I thought all households did this as a matter of course.

Can I use it to bless someone who is sick? Do you use it before you pray?
 
I remember my mom blessing my dad’s hospital bed when he was bed fast from Alzheimer’s.
I have blessed my wife’s bed (also alzheimer’s) though I do not do it regularly.
I have blessed my own bed after a bad or sinful dream.

You can use holy water pretty much anywhere that you feel it is appropriate.
What you suggest above certainly would be appropriate.

I’ve blessed every room in my house with holy water. Even the creepy fruit cellar in the basement that we never, ever go in (shudders). I’m all out of holy water, though. Gotta get some more…

You don’t particularly need a holy water font. You just need to open the bottle, put your index finger at the opening, and then flip it over for a second so you get it on your finger. Do it again with the middle finger, and then do the Sign of the Cross. Do this before going to bed after you’ve done nightly prayers, and then again in the morning. When I am terribly afraid of Demons, I put some on my thumb and do the Sign of the Cross on all four of my bedroom walls, as well as my door, too.
 
I love to use Holy Water when I pray! And sprinkle a little (any direction) with the intention, “This is for the Poor Souls in Purgatory.”
 
I’m sorry but I’ve never heard of that tradition, and my antecedents were pretty devout Catholics of Slovak ethnicity.

What they did have was a crucifix with a little door in the back that held a couple of small candles and a small bottle of holy water, which I guess were there in the event that there was a need for last rites, but were never used to my knowledge.
