As far as women in the Priesthood are concerned, I think that since there were no female Apostles, wouldn’t it stand to reason that by way of Apostolic Succession, they would not be part of the Priesthood? We are ALL called to be Disciples of Christ, but only a chosen few (chosen by the Holy Spirit) are called to the Priesthood.
A female Priesthood isn’t Biblical, is it? And the valid successors of the Apostles have upheld time and again that women just aren’t called to the Priesthood.
There were no women Apostles in the Bible. There were no women Bishops or Priests in the Early Church. And there have been no valid women Priests since then, either.
By the way, I don’t think women should be in infantry/combat roles, either. I have no issues with women as construction workers, polititians, police officers, firefighters, doctors, zoo-keepers, etc…, but the Priesthood and combat/infantry is where I think the line should be drawn.
As for the changing times, etc… Jesus was all knowing. I would have to believe that He would have forseen the modern world, and given women a more prominant role in His Ministry if He wanted them to be Priests.
Funny… some Protestants say we Catholics give to much honor and respect to Mary, but some of those same people want a greater role for women.
