grannymh,
I’ve been to Mass a few times, but never adoration. And I never thought about it till you mentioned it. … I truly believe that Jesus is there. … I’ve seen many miracles from my Father and the sacrament itself is a miracle in my opinion. To think that my Lord would offer Himself in this way is humbling.
Dear Mystic Warrior,
I have the bible opened to James 4:8 and would like to add verse 10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will exalt you.” It sounds like that is what you are doing.
There are different kinds of Eucharistic miracles. Besides the ones which strengthened faith in the Real Presence of Jesus which comes about at Holy Mass, there are those that direct our attention to the fact that Jesus remains present in the Sacred Hosts,
In 1730, in Siena, Italy, thieves stole the chalice for it’s value and left the consecrated Hosts in an alms box at another church. These Hosts were found and set aside for special reverence. Whenever these Hosts are examined, they are found to be fresh, intact, uncorrupted, chemically pure without any sign of alteration. Jesus meant what He said about not leaving us orphans. He is present continually which is why there is Adoration of Jesus in addition to Holy Mass.
As a visitor to Eucharistic Adoration, one participates, along with other adorers, in adoring Jesus, thanking Him for all He has done, asking Him for mercy, and humbly petitioning Him for His help. Visitors chose their own way of praying. Or they may just sit quietly before Our Lord.
Eucharistic Adoration draws us to Holy Mass where we can receive Jesus in Holy Communion. And the Holy Mass, through the greatest miracle ever, makes it possible for Jesus to remain present beyond the time of Holy Mass. Yes, it is a circle of divine love.
www.acfp2000.com is a website that lists churches which have some form of Eucharistic Adoration. Many churches have a short period of Adoration on the first Friday of the month. Not every church is listed, so it would be wise to check those nearest you or those nearest to the place where you work. Many people make short visits before or after work, on their way to a doctor’s appointment, etc…
Remember it is not the length of the visit that is important, it is the fact that you are there. There is no dress code.
You are very blest in that Jesus, the Father, and the Blessed Virgin Mary are present with you. That is not unusual. They are keeping their promise to help us. What is truly wonderful is that you recognize the fact and actually talk to them. “Talking” is an informal prayer. Too many of us ignore the presence of Jesus, the Father, and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
One final thought about prayer. There is a prayer that people say when they cannot receive the Blessed Sacrament. I don’t have one handy. However, I bet you have made up your own prayer to Jesus. Basically, this prayer acknowledges that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. It expresses the longing to actually receive Him. But since that is impossible, the prayer asks Jesus to come spiritually. Then the prayer allows for one to put into words the same kind of things one would say if Jesus had come in Holy Communion.
You can use the same kind of prayer when you can’t get to Holy Mass or Adoration. Again, I bet you already do this. I just want to affirm that this kind of prayer is good.
I don’t remember where I heard or read this phrase, It encourages one to “step out in faith”.
I will be traveling to see my grandchildren and will be off this thread for awhile. You and those close to you are in my prayers.
Blessings,
grannymh
