I don’t mind either. I do mind the incense in a non-Cathedral like church, however. In my parish (NO mass) for the times when they have incense I get pretty close to passing out and have difficulty breathing b/c of the lack of more open spaces. As for the reverence or ability to concentrate, I really try to not focus on anyone else (except my dd when she has to go to the restroom) and have found that I have PLENTY of time for reflection during the NO mass. Heck, I have cried more times than I can count at NO masses from being moved, not to mention the blessings of priests at the different parishes I have attended. The only times I find that I am having a difficult time with focusing on Our Lord at mass is when I personally am struggling with my prayer life and have that internal battle between my spirit and my flesh (the battle between spending more time with God and spending more time doing what I want to do). As for the TLM masses I have attended they are reverent too, but I have been just as distracted there as at NO masses b/c of my internal spiritual struggles. The type of mass has NOTHING to do with whether or not I can hear the message that God is giving to me at mass. TLM or NO, whatever you prefer, but please, please, please don’t tell me I’m not as holy as you b/c I go to NO masses. I don’t criticize others for going to TLM masses and would expect the same Catholic Christian charity in return.
