I forgot this part…you do know that Jews still observe Passover, right? It began on Monday at sundown.(…)
Do they also celebrate the ‘passover’, if so do you not think that is a bit, how to describe it - awful.
Many part of the world dont call it “Easter” but Paschal. The link I was sent mentioned ‘Easter Sunday’ and ‘Passover’
I just ask questions. Not trying to provoke. I don’t see how asking some simple questions riles people. I am sure they can speak for themselves and from what I see they do a great job.Why do you pose provocative questions so often?
It seems you want to rile some folks on the forum every couple of days.
I am kind of surprised that this thread has not been reduced to “where is your proof for the existence of God?”
Simply, my question is why use a word associated with a different goddess , for a popular day in the Catholic Calendar, I asked it because it is nearly ‘Easter’Many part of the world dont call it “Easter” but Paschal.
You need to be more specific as to what you are asking. Your question makes little sense in the light of Catholicism.
Ask away. I just see you post every now and then and it always rapidly descends into chaos because many times you argue in a cyclical/close minded way. You pose a question asking something and you many times disregard any and all answers unless they correspond directly with the answer you are looking for.I just ask questions. Not trying to provoke. Do you feel I should not ask questions?
But Easter isn’t actually about eggs and bunnies. And it’s not about killing either. It is about new life in our Lord Jesus Christ, and THAT is what Catholics celebrate. The REAL reason for the season.I was thinking more of ‘Easter’ as in eggs, bunnies etc, rather than killing.
Ah, so you are hung up on the word “easter”Simply, my question is why use a word associated with a different goddess , for a popular day in the Catholic Calendar, I asked it because it is nearly ‘Easter’
Yea, that whole chocoate easter bunny thing is sooooooooo SECULARISM in the extreme!!!But Easter isn’t actually about eggs and bunnies. And it’s not about killing either. It is about new life in our Lord Jesus Christ, and THAT is what Catholics celebrate. The REAL reason for the season.
The secular world on the other hand celebrates bunnies and eggs, unfortunately.
I don’t see chaos - just a multiplicity of viewsAsk away. I just see you post every now and then and it always rapidly descends into chaos because many times you argue in a cyclical/close minded way. Yes, sincere prayer is needed to find God, and we can’t do your praying for you in order to find Him.It would be cool to find out if a god did exist, but as many have said on this forum, I won’t find it here.
When you come to discover God, the God of the Catholic church, it will be way more than cool. You won’t even be able to describe it.It would be cool to find out if a god did exist, but as many have said on this forum, I won’t find it here.
Is Catholic Passover different from Jewish Passover?I forgot this part…you do know that Jews still observe Passover, right? It began on Monday at sundown.

I would agree yes you won’t “find” religion on here, and while you are at it you seem to speak as if you will not find it elsewhere. When you state “religion is by definition fuzzy” you are illustrating this point exactly. Your lack of open mindedness makes me think unless that changes you will not find God even though He is calling you constantly.I don’t see chaos - just a multiplicity of views
I am not looking for a ‘set answer’ in a cyclical way- that is somewhat tautologous and counter productive. I do ask a question sometimes repeatedly as there is a lot of evasion and obfuscation on these threads, but I get that - religion is by definition fuzzy, it has to be.
It would be cool to find out if a god did exist, but as many have said on this forum, I won’t find it here.
I don’t doubt, discovering a God, would be really cool, but he or she or it, is so evasive. When you come to discover God, the God of the Catholic church, it will be way more than cool. You won’t even be able to describe it.
The Lord Supper was the Jewish Passover. Is Catholic Passover different from Jewish Passover?
I think you misunderstand what celebrate means. Celebrate doesn’t imply joy by its nature, but rather commemoration, a remembering. You celebrate birthdays, baptisms, but also funerals, and war. When people remember the September 11th attacks and hold memorial services, or perform some kind of routine in remembrance of the day, they are celebrating. So they use the term ‘Easter’ after ‘Ishtar’ but used it to commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection.
Do they also celebrate the ‘passover’, if so do you not think that is a bit, how to describe it - awful.
