Is Catholic Passover different from Jewish Passover?
Yes, because Jesus fulfilled the Jewish Passover, we celebrate that Jesus is here and because they do not accept Christ as the Messiah, they continue to pray for his coming.

I would agree yes you won’t “find” religion on here, and while you are at it you seem to speak as if you will not find it elsewhere. When you state “religion is by definition fuzzy” you are illustrating this point exactly. Your lack of open mindedness makes me think unless that changes you will not find God even though He is calling you constantly.
I meant fuzzy as in ‘vague’ - I do have an open mind. If it transpires that one of the gods exists that would be something to see, I don’t have a preference or any preconceived ideas of what a God would be like

I think you misunderstand what celebrate means. Celebrate doesn’t imply joy by its nature, but rather commemoration, a remembering. You celebrate birthdays, baptisms, but also funerals, and war. When people remember the September 11th attacks and hold memorial services, or perform some kind of routine in remembrance of the day, they are celebrating.

The English name of “Easter” may have its origins in pagan lore, but it is how we celebrate it that matters. Not the name. When Christians refer to Easter, we refer to the day Jesus rose from the dead. And while many may also partake in the custom of the Easter bunny and the like, it is out of fun and not pagan observances. Many even take the pagan symbols and use them for Christian symbolism, replacing the pagan aspect to something Christ centered.
Yea, April, dont get caught up in the word “easter”.

Seek to understand what is being commemorated and not so fixated on a word.

I don’t doubt, discovering a God, would be really cool, but he or she or it, is so evasive.
He is not evasive. He is waiting for you and actually He is revealing himself here to you in these forums. People are giving you great answers. This is God leading you to the truth.

Our biggest wall to discovering God is our egos. We have this tendency to think we are superior to Him.

Human ego and arrogance is a wall to discovery.

I understood it to mean that.

I think that you do have a preconceived notion to what and who God is. You are expecting a sign from Him to believe, you state sometimes that you need evidence and proof. But I have to say that this is what illustrates your close mindedness. You will not believe until someone proves it to you, when truly it is up to you to find God yourself, but you throw your hands up in the air and say…“oh well God doesn’t exist, I will continue to not believe.”

Pride is a powerful sin.

ANd if that is the case for April, then her ego is in the way of that very revealing of God.

The human ego is a big big failing to understanding and being open to God.

Rest assured Marie, I have nothing to be egotistical about.

But saying that I can’t imagine any other discovery being dependent on ego. So if it Einstein had a huge ego he would not have produced his great work? Don’t follow that.

I’m sometimes reluctant to use the word Easter. It brings to mind Easter bunnies, colorful eggs & baskets. This Catholic likes celebrating The Resurrection. Christ is Risen! Alleluia!

I not even talking about being “egotistical”. Just talking about the human ego.

It gets in the way.

Even Einstein knew that not everything could be explained. 😉

I have no idea of how a god would manifest. Of course we need proof. And it is not about me, we (as in mankind) should be able to find a god (if he exists) without recourse to my sensibilities. I am insignificant in this.

That isn’t a valid comparison. Einstein dealt in created things, he mastered many things about the natural world in his mind, but you Senora Floyd outright refuse to even consider the existence of the One True God, even though He constantly reveals himself to you.

It is the sin of pride that keeps you from realizing the existence of God.

So you think God is found in the extra-ordinary then?
God is found in the very ordinary.

God is not lost, never has been, never will be. He wants us to seek Him, and has promised that if we do, we will find Him.
Matthew 7:7-8
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

From what I have seen of your posts, April, your understanding is twisted so you are trying to understand in a twisted way. That will cause you confusion.

The whole idea of “do Catholics celebrate Easter” itself shows a twisted understanding of both Catholics and Easter.

🤷

Im not sure how one untwisted their twisted views?

He manifests constantly before your eyes in everything.
