As I said once before, what you found amongst the Continuum clergy, and what I find, differs, more than a little. I find it far more likely that Continuing Anglican clergy, so far from harboring anti-Catholic sentiments, proclaim themselves, and their Church, part of Catholicism (as in the placard framed in the narthex of my parish church). Now, no doubt this raises a whole 'nother piscine kettle, but resentment of the Catholic Church, or the Roman variety thereof, ain’t part of it.To get back to the main “Question” of the Thread-- Do Catholics Despise Anglicans–
my experience thus far with a Catholic wife (married almost 10 years, known each other for 13), Catholic Friends and now becoming a Catholic-- I’d answer that in general, NO.
In reality, this seems a bit silly to even be asking-- If anything, I have found a tremendous amount of charity in Catholics towards Protestants of all stripes; be they Anglican, Lutheran, Baptist, etc. It is usually the opposite from the other side though towards Catholics.
It is still considered acceptable and “en vogue” if you will, to have anti-Catholic prejudices in American and the West today. Many of the more rabid Protestants simply say that such anti-Catholic bias is “proof” of Catholics being “fallen” from God and the Gospel, etc. It really is the kind of bigoted remarks one expects of Klansmen and White Supremacists and Nazis/Fascists.
What my experience in the Continuing Anglican “church” Movement has lead me to believe, although I didn’t want to at first, that many of the CLERGY in its movement probably do harbor anti-Catholic sentiments due to the problems they have with submission to the authority of the Holy Father. This is only my opinion and speculation however it is based on my own experience there.
I want to be clear that I am NOT talking about the Episcopal Church (TEC). While the TEC has its own issues with the whole “sexual identity crisis” going on right now; they are are for the most part MUCH more charitable about their clergy who come home to the Church-- I’d refer you to the kind comments given in regards to Michael Herzog, former Episcopal Bp. of Albany who “swam the Tiber” earlier this year-- the public praise of Mr. Herzog were given by his successor in Albany.
The main issue, from what I can tell, that Anglicanism (especially the Continuing “church” part) has is that it on this search for identity-- it says it is both “protestant” and “catholic” yet in reality is much more the former than the latter because it’s like saying one is a little bit pregnant-- no, you either are or are not. One can’t be Catholic AND protestant. One is merely Protestant at that point.
While you have the CC types who are searching for the “validity” of their orders and other things they simply can’t bring themselves to recognize (or accept is a better word) what Cardinal Newman, Cardinal Manning, Monsignor Ronald Knox (the son of the Anglican Bp. of Winchester) and Monsignor Hugh Benson (the son of the Abp. of Canterbury) and countless others saw (my humble self included)-- that the FULLNESS of CATHOLIC FAITH is found in the Chair of Peter and those Bishops in Communion with the Successor of Peter-- the Holy Father, the Pope.
THIS HUBRIS is what keeps many an Anglican (at least in the CC clergy circles, in my opinion from my experience) practicing Protestants and outside the Ark of the Catholic Church.

Mileage, as all know, may vary. That’s my experience.
