Do Catholics ignore these scriptures?

As to the verse about hair…it seems to me that Paul was citing an example in nature about a basic difference between men and women. Nature gives women longer hair than men. We men can rarely grow hair anywhere near the length that women can. He could have instead referred to breast size or some other nature given difference, but he chose hair.

‘Short’ hair to Paul was probably shoulder length. ‘Long’ hair was really long. To take this verse and try to extrapolate that he was saying that Christian men should wear hair trimmed above the ears and collar is simply cultural manipulation of scripture.

Probably a forgery.
Or an interpolation
But in no way did they have the same practices, no way.
Just like a child who can’t get his way. It’s a fake or a forgery just because it doesn’t go along with your false propaganda. Jesus brought the light but men preferred the darkness. …teachccd

I have links.
But they will get me in trouble again, people can PM me I think if you want them.
The issue is not wheter or not the word Catholic is used in 110 AD, anymore than churches that claim to be true because they use the term “Church of God”. What matters is whether or not they follow the authentic teachings of the Bible.
Just like a child…people always attack the person when they cannot argue with the message.

O.K. then answer this child this question. How did the Church in the year 42 A.D.follow the authentic teachings of a New Testament that didn’t exist?? Were they not Christian??

You have links?? Well so do the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Muslims and the Jews. Everyone has links. In fact, believe it or not even I have links.😃 What does that prove that you have links??

Now answer my first question and I will be guilty as charged otherwise do not consider yourself attacked just becoming informed…teachccd

How does the papal tierra, mitre and so forth not violate what Paul is teaching
No, They don’t wear them during prayer.

Do Catholicwomen pray with their head uncovered

Only if they are bald. Usually that is cancer patients, and I’m sure God doesn’t worry about them. Vs. 15 says that her hair is her covering.

Do Catholic men have long hair?

Exactly what do you mean by long hair? How long is long? How long was long to Paul?

Do Catholic women cut their hair. No, usually we have it done in the beauty parlor.
1 Corinthians 11:13Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? (Well, judging for my self… NO, not in the United States it isn’t.)

The authentic teachings of Christ were around in verbal form and possibly in some written form depending upon your perspective about what was written when. The problem arises when people take nonbiblical doctrines that did not come from Christ and call it Sacred Tradition.

Exactly what denomination are you? Just wondering, cause it feels like “Morman” or “Pentecostal”.

I am not in a denomination.
I go to a church that was started by a former atheist. We follow the Bible as best as we can. I do not speak in tongues and I do not accept Joseph Smith as a Prophet. John sealed the Bible, God knew that would be the last book and where it would be and inspired his words. There can be no new scriptures written after Revelation.

What does this have to do with the OP’s question?

There are other threads for arguments like that.

ah, didn’t look at the name of the OP, it’s you it seems…

Was that just a few intro questions to the well-worn highly generalized ‘Catholic tradition is not biblical’ argument?

Yeah, I am just answering what they give me.

lol, you can’t say the early Christians had nothing to do with the practices of the Catholic Church and then when people show you proof just blow it off as a forgery.

Find out what the ECFs thought about real presence in the Eucharist, that is the #1 doctrine and practice in Catholic teaching and Catholic life, you may be surprised. That is unless you’ll call it a forgery after it sufficiently proves real presence. 😉 (just kidding)

P.S. How long was Christs hair? :doh2:

Our Lord most likely wore his hair long, as was the custom of Jewish men in his time. Cutting of the hair and shaving the face was a practice that only the pagan Romans engaged in. Orthodox and Hasidic Jews still wear their hair long to this day.

What is short? What is long? If Paul was giving instructions, where are the measurments? God told people how large to build a boat, a tent, an arc of the convenent, and a temple. Why no lengths here? Besides, how does anyone know that they are following the Bible if they cannot check it against early Christian faith and practices.

Protestant. Because there are thousands upon thousands of different Protestant sects, they have commonly become called “denominations” - if you don’t know the name of your particular denomination you are not alone - probably at least 1/2 of the “Christian” Protestants don’t even realize they’re in a denomination - the only Churches that aren’t are the Catholics & Orthodox - the Protestants just think that they are Christian not realizing that today there are 3 different Christian Traditions: Orthodox, Catholic & Protestant. If you are not Orthodox or Catholic, then you are a Protestant & if you are a Protestant you are a member of one of hundreds of thousands of Protestant Denominations. They each have different beliefs, practices and traditions - are completely divided amongst themselves.

Your name on here indicates that you are proud that you are remaining divided from the original Christian Churches: Orthodox & Catholic, yet Christ Himself prayed that we would all be one as He and His Father are One. Become united with the ancient faith of Christianity: Orthodox or Catholic - God loves you too much to leave you where you are separated from His One Church. God is calling you home. Many are called, but few are chosen. Chose to be one of His chosen - answer God’s call.

Most protestants know nothing of the history of the Christian Church and the history of the Sacred Scripture which eventually came into one book which we now call the Bible.

Learn the history of the ancient Christian Faith. Learn the history of what is today called the Holy Bible. Learn and pray. Then unite yourself and your family to God’s Church: Orthodox & Catholic.

Actually, rightlydivide isn’t too far off about women veiling their hair in church.
From 33 A.D. right down until our times, Catholic women wore something over their hair in church, always.
When did this change?
In the late 1960s, largely due to the Spirit of the World
influencing Catholic women in the form of the feminist movement, which was heavily promoted by the Mass Media.
There are some Catholic women, including in my contemporary parish, who still wear a veil or hat in Church, following
immemorial apostolic counsel.

As for the men, laity and clergy,
men remove their hats, mitres, etc., during the worship service and do not veil their heads in Church.
However, I do not know WHY rightlydivide is singling out Catholics with this question, for I am a former Protestant
(by denomination Presbyterian, but have attended ALL types of Protestant and evangelical churches), and I never, ever saw women veil their heads in Protestant or evangelical churches,
except for black women, who wore often stylish-looking hats, not veils.

It is amusing that you think that all must be confined to the Bible. It is noticeable though that the New Testament Church did not list what it did and did not believe, so where do you get this notion that the New Testament Church is not the Catholic Church? We can go onwards from the New Testament to the early Christian martyrs. Can you point out where your church’s teachings are in any of their writings?
