. I do not think you mean to say that churches should not have their own standards but that is what you are leaning towards with you examples.
For me the only standard is the Gospel.
Again, the protestant understanding of communion is incomplete. It is merely symbolic and eating a piece of cracker and drinking a cup of juice. There is no reason that anyone who loves Jesus can not do this. Lutheran beliefs are closer to Catholics than other protestants but they are still not the same.
Actually the only Lutheran beliefs that I can think of that are different then Catholic, I read the newest Catholic Catechism a few years back is the fact that we believe that the Pope can be fallible or maybe it was the immaculate conception of Mary. I think there was even a statement in there about how very close we are, we need to just believe??? can’t remember…
Very funny side note- I as a Lutheran was talking to my spouse’s family who are all Catholic. They thought the Immaculate Conception was all about Jesus. They were so shocked when they discovered it was all about Mary.
A Lutheran teaching Catholics about the Immaculate Conception!!
You have to admit that is pretty funny. I believe strongly that I as a fellow Christian must not be a stumbling block to any fellow Christian-If you need to believe in something to experience your faith, unless of course it is something satanic/evil:
1 Corinthians 8
9Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
So long as the baptism was done in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I think a better question is, do protestants accept Catholic and many other protestant baptisms. I can point you to many churches that require one to be re baptized if they were not submerged.
Yes good question! I believe that those churches place too much on the outward actions of people and not what the Holy Spirit, the power of GOD’s Holy Words are doing. BUT if you need to be dunked to believe you were baptized who am I to say it is wrong
1 Corinthians 8!
THe Catholic Church would accept your son but not his divorce. The church does not allow divorce so your son can not remarry in the church. The standard should be the Gospel and not their own.
Ok so they remain sinners in the Catholic church, my son was already a sinner because he is Lutheran and not Catholic.
Here is a question- My new daughter-in-law suddenly now after their weddng at our home is going to get her first marriage anulled, both were legally divorced of course.
Will their marriage count or does it have to be redone because it was done in our home and by our Pastor and not a Priest?
Actually I am sort of hoping it doesn’t so when they have children they will go to the Lutheran school.

. Why? because the children at our Lutheran school learn daily Bible stories and memorize Bible verses weekly. **No church doctrine **is taught until they decide to take catechism classes in the 7th & 8th grade for confirmation.
