God is infinite and therefore it is impossible to ask “too much” of Him. Also, God wants to help us and it is totally reasonable to ask Him for things; we wouldn’t have anything without Him. If you truly and honestly feel as if you are
only praying to ask for things and then forgetting about God afterwards, then something would need to change, but there is nothing wrong with praying for things. Think of it this way: would St. John Paul II (or any saint) turn you away if you told him you needed him to do something? Would he call the Swiss Guard in on you if you asked for something big? Surely he wouldn’t do it for you if he didn’t think it would be good for you, but he would surely try to help you any way he could.
