The Cross is the Lord’s footstool.

What is the Black Stone?
I have no idea what it is or why they venerate it. Something about Muhammad kissing it I saw in another post quoting a Wikipedia source. As I said, I do not think they worship it.

Isa, but the question is 'Do you believe Muslims as a whole actually worship the black stone of the Kaaba?" You as Orthodox have been accused of worshiping icons…the Divine Liturgy I have attended with Orthodox friends had worshipers kissing icons as they kneeled before them…I knew they did not “worship” the icon…but showed it veneration because it represented Christ or a Saint.

Do you really believe Muslims as a whole, worship the black stone?

I cannot believe the words of Jesus…“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you…” would not have meaning for you. To paraphrase, “Do not speak falsehoods about others that you would not have spoken about you.”…

So the real question isn’t whether a few select Muslims could not answer your questions to your satisfaction, but based on your knowledge of Islam…do you actually believe Muslims worship the black stone?
The only reason given is that Muhammad kissed it.

The only reason Muhammad kissed it is because the Quraysh kissed it.

The Quraysh kissed it because they worshipped it.

The Muslims haven’t even come up with an explanation that I can speak falsehoods about.

Islam cannot explain why that black stone is venerated during the obligatory rituals of Islamic pilgrimage.

I guess comparing an icon or a statue to a black stone that lacks an image and represents nothing is fallacious.

A stone…Isa, do you actually believe Muslims worship the stone regardless of what Muslims say?
maybe they will realize how absurd they seem when they accuse us of the same thing they do, even though our veneration is to icons/statues representing real people, not meaningless stones.

Touching or kissing the Black Stone has a profound impact on the faithful as it is suppose to count in their favor on judgment day. The great Muslim traveler from Valencia, Ibn Jubayr (1145 - 1217) describes the emotion he felt on touching the stone; The stone, when one kisses it, has a softness and freshness which delights the mouth, so much so that he who places his lips upon it wishes never to remove them. It suffices, moreover, that the Prophet said that it is the Right Hand of God on Earth.

I ask several, and they are dumpfounded and confused by the question.
But do you believe Muslims worship the black stone…it matters not what a few Muslims of your acquaintence say or cannot say…do you believe Muslims as a whole worship the black stone? Perhaps a few Muslims are “dumbfounded and confused” by your question…I must confess, I am a bit “dumbfounded” by your insistent question myself…so for my own simple mindedness…please, tell us…do you actually believe Muslims worship the black stone?

I think that the one being asked is probably dumbfounded and confused by the question
No. I am certain, bases on what they do, that they worship it, as it seems they haven’t given any thought to why they do what they do.

Why I bow to the Cross (like last Sunday, Universal Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross) I am never at a loss to explain.

why kiss an old idol…

… Prophet said that it is the Right Hand of God on Earth.

Misconceptions

Q. I converted to Islam last year by marriage, and a non-believer told me that Muslims go to Hajj just to touch the stone.

Is this true?

If not, why is it that all Muslims pray toward the Ka`bah and toward the East?

Ans.Ahmad Kutty

The first sanctuary ever built for mankind was that at Bakkah (Makkah),

a blessed place, a guidance to the peoples.

(Aal `Imran 2: 96).

Thus, by ordering us to face towards the Ka`bah, we are taken back to our Adamic roots.

One of the most essential messages of Islam is to break the barriers such as race, language and ethnicity, etc. that separate human beings from one another by stressing their common origin in Adam and Eve.

…while going around the Ka`bah, some pilgrims may touch the black stone, doing so is not an integral rite of Hajj.

It is therefore totally absurd and incorrect to say that Muslims go to Makkah to touch the stone.

Touching the stone is a mere symbolic act; it is merely intended to symbolize the beginning of the ritual of circumambulation around the Sacred House.

**Hello and good mornin to everyone,

wow, accusations are just digusting when one cannot come to a truthful conclusion
by Publisher Are we discussing that Muslims condemns pagan worship if images or are we discussing that Muslims “worship” a black stone? Muslims do not worship the stone…no more than Catholics “worship” statues of Mary and the Saints.
Thank you from the heart.

Isa, you are clueless of Islam’s tenants, beliefs and actions. You are not sincere and all you want to do is cause havoc in the forum…you want to sike up everyone with your petty, ignorant, little, vices of arrogant sayings which people actually see in front of their faces that they are untrue. You may want to continue in the fashion, but in the head, please, try to have electrotherapy. your name depicts what you cause here, “the misery”.

They furthermore accuse us of being idolaters, because we venerate the cross, which they abominate. And we answer them: ‘How is it, then, that you rub yourselves against a stone in your Ka’ba and kiss and embrace it?’ Then some of them say that Abraham had relations with Agar upon it, but others say that he tied the camel to it, when he was going to sacrifice Isaac. And we answer them: ‘Since Scripture says that the mountain was wooded and had trees from which Abraham cut wood for the holocaust and laid it upon Isaac, and then he left the asses behind with the two young men, why talk nonsense? For in that place neither is it thick with trees nor is there passage for asses.’ And they are embarrassed, but they still assert that the stone is Abraham’s. Then we say: ‘Let it be Abraham’s, as you so foolishly say. Then, just because Abraham had relations with a woman on it or tied a camel to it, you are not ashamed to kiss it, yet you blame us for venerating the cross of Christ by which the power of the demons and the deceit of the Devil was destroyed.’ This stone that they talk about is a head of that Aphrodite whom they used to worship and whom they called Khabár. Even to the present day, traces of the carving are visible on it to careful observers.

Wow, that was mean!! I laughed when I read this, by the way, because what you wrote about Isa could easily describe you and your fellow Black Stone Worshipers (a.k.a. Mahometans). I think Isa is one of the most insightful and knowledgeable posters on the forum and his comments are always a delight to read. It also helps that he writes in correct English, uses complete sentences, as well as proper spelling, grammar, and puncuation, and a reasonable font size and color–unlike some of the other posters here cough cough.

Cheerio! 👋

Americanrevert, your posts are like seeing an accident on the road…you might look at it against your better judgment and then cringe and say Goodness! Why did I do that?. Then you cross yourself and pray for those involved.

The first sanctuary ever built for mankind was that at Bakkah (Makkah),

a blessed place, a guidance to the peoples.

(Aal `Imran 2: 96).
There is no scientific evidence to prove this allegation in the Koran. Some historians say that the Cube was originally built as a church whereas some historians ascribe the first construction of the Cube to Meccan pagans. Only Muslim scholars associate the Cube with Abraham.
Thus, by ordering us to face towards the Ka`bah, we are taken back to our Adamic roots.
What do you mean by this? As far as the Koran is concerned, Adam has nothing to do with the Cube and the Qiblah. How can a local structure (a pagan temple) in a specific region of the world be affiliated with the mankind’s first parents? Has Adam ever been to Mecca??
One of the most essential messages of Islam is to break the barriers such as race, language and ethnicity, etc. that separate human beings from one another by stressing their common origin in Adam and Eve.
What does this have to do with the Cube and the black stone?
…while going around the Ka`bah, some pilgrims may touch the black stone, doing so is not an integral rite of Hajj.
However, Muslims touch and kiss that stone although it is not obligatory.
It is therefore totally absurd and incorrect to say that Muslims go to Makkah to touch the stone.

Touching the stone is a mere symbolic act; it is merely intended to symbolize the beginning of the ritual of circumambulation around the Sacred House.
Why specifically that stone?
A line marking the end of the Tawaaf at the black stone

Why the need to touch and kiss it then? Do Muslims thank the stone for guiding them?

Some of this post will include what is allah - in order to talk about the black stone and the kabaa where the stone is contained in.

-mohammed was a pagan.
**-The kabaa was a pagan temple to the pagan moon god, al-ilah. **
-this is an old Babylonian religion.
-muslims and those pagans of mohammed’s religion all have the same ceremonies (which I used to say that this ‘connection’ that muslims claim between Judaism and Christianity is inane - nothing in the muslim’s ceremonies are the same as the other two)
-mohammed even brought in the 3 goddesses at one point - al-lat, al-uzza, and manat, but was advised to take them out.
-islam is the ancient fertility cult (gee, no wonder they are so concerned with the afterlife being very carnal, and the over concern with women and men’s sexual behaviors)
-allah was the high god in a pantheon of deities.
-allah was one of many
-allah, known as habul, and was a statue on top of the kabaa, the moon god.
-‘allah’ replaced ‘habul’.
**-the same pagans practiced the pilgrimage to the hajj, the fast of ramadan, running around the kabaa 7 times, kissing the black stone, shaving the head, animal sacrifices, running up and down 2 hills, throwing stones at the devil, snorting, spitting, praying several times a day towards Mecca, giving alms, Friday prayers, etc. **
-Jews and Christians NEVER used a cresent moon and star as a symbol nor did they ever use a black stone as something they revered.

I find it ironic that they will make a big todo over a black rock and treat their fellow human beings so miserably.

This video talks about allah - but it also brings up the kabaa. Walid Shoebat talks about it. It tells us that ramadan already existed before mohammed made up islam, as the other things mentioned already existed - mohammed took them, including the kabaa, from the pagan religion of his time.
