Do Protestants Really Hate Catholicism?

What is so nice about CAF is that it is anonymous so one can “let it all hang out” (what an expression - ugh:eek::p).

I was away from the Church for 27 years and have 4 children (two were born before I left so were baptised) and two while I was away - No 3 has since been baptised into a Christian church). No 3 is married to an ex Catholic (I think she was not properly catethised but I never asked why she left). No 3 is a devout Christian but I noticed that throughout the years No 3 and his wife have attended a number of different Protestant churches. They change because it is near their house or because the church has a cool youth group and things like that. They have now moved to one which is quite far from their home and they love it. My son has made some good friends in that church and his wife is very pleased. However my son has come to like and respect Pope Benedict and has read a couple of his books (his wife tore one of them up in a fit of fury!!) I pray she will come back to the Church because I realise if my son were to express an interest there would be hell to play!

My No 4 has never been baptised and is married to a man who was baptised Catholic but never practiced and is terribly against the Church (probably just prejudice and influenced by media etc. I pray he will have a massive conversion!!

Nos 1 and 2 are totally secular!!

I am fully of guilt and regret.

I’m not sure who you are responding to, but, this statement isn’t true.

“I do not want a church that conforms to my desires of the flesh; I want a church that conforms to truth. Let me conform to truth. Please give me truth, not a product for mass merchandising.”

What do you mean , ‘desires of the flesh?’

WLYCHAN64, Hello, i came here to let you know that when i got in touch with you i was upset and confused and i am confessing this for all to see, cause i almost bum steered you and i couldn’t live with myself if i did that Please forgive me as i had just come back to the faith and a few people gave information that was not at the time savy. I want you to know this is the Church of God and i know because i have been attacked by the opressor to leave at times, but i have stuck it out and i know i am in the right place, and i know coming from both sides of the fence that all the misconseptions of the Catholic church was just that (misconseptions,) false statements, to draw people away from the Church that Christ built.Since i have been recieving communion i have no pain in my back anymore and i feel alot better then i have in years. I have met alot of Gods saints who pray around the clock for every life they meet and every life they touch, and they ask in Jesus name.I have more life then i ever had and energy. I feel renewed in my spirit. the only thing i need is to learn more of the things i could have had if i never had turned away in the first place, but i was young and careless, and did not have the guidence i needed to stay on track. well enough about me i am glad you are here and may God Bless You alway’s love of Christ Nancy:thumbsup:
 
I made the same comment on another thread.

We all know that conversion and evangelization is an ongoing thing. We have to constantly learn about the Faith, pray, share, s t r e t c h ourselves.

We have to practice our Faith. In fact, our Faith is a *Workout! *

Actually Protestants are good for us because they keep us on our toes.

We need each other. We need to share and build each other up.

My interpretation of this is that a lot of protestant denominations have bowed to the pressure from the world rather than upholding the teachings of God.

The first thing that comes to mind is contraception, homosexuality and divorce, women priests.

Only the Catholic Church has taken the right (but difficult) stand on these moral issues.

Pope John Paul II when pressured to give in to demands to “modernize” the moral and ecclesial teachings of the church said that the Church is here to evangelize the world, not for the world to evangelize the Church.

Sadly, the latter is the case for most protestant denominations.

You can say that again sister! I would not be in CAF now and learning an enormous lot about my faith had I not (eehrm,) fallen in love with a protestant (and all we did was argue:o) which forced me to research my faith.

And now I am here thanks be to God! (though some might not exactly find that something to be thankful for :D)

I am not sure if most of the protestant denominations take the stands that attract criticisms. The Church of England may be the one that you worries most and some other protestant denominations in the US.

Could you name out other denominations that you have great reservations. I ask you for the details not with a view to challenge you but to find out more in this aspect.

I am not really all that knowledgeable about the differences in moral teachings among the various protestant denominations (there are around 30,000 so it is a bit hard to keep track). I think there are even some who think abortion is okay (an ex-SDA here at CAF said that SDA is not completely against abortion) but for all the other differences I can’t really say.

I think the conservative Lutherans are probably closer to Catholic teaching than any other but I cannot back that up with data.
